Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bondi Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the menu for Bondi.
The next week and a half is a bit of a mixed bag, with a whole lot of nothing good for a stretch, then a run of clean, solid waves that look like the real deal. Hang tight, because the best days are a week away and they’re worth waiting for.
Right now, Saturday the 11th of July is your best early option. It’s not a huge standout, but we’ve got a clean 4ft SE swell with a 9-second period. The combined wave energy is moderate at 370, and with a light NW cross-off breeze, it’s rideable and fun for a beginner-friendly spot. Water temperature is 64°, which is basically bang on average for this time of year.
From Sunday the 12th right through to Thursday the 16th? Honestly, it’s a write-off. Swell drops, winds turn onshore, and we get some messy conditions. Even Wednesday the 15th brings a big 12ft S swell, but with a strong cross-on wind and rain, it’s just a washing machine. That kind of size with short 10-second period is a real handful and not much fun for anyone.
Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th are still poor, with onshore winds and lumpy conditions. Energy levels are moderate but the quality just isn’t there.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Sunday the 19th of July is the first true standout. We’ve got a solid 8ft E swell rolling in with a 10-second period and a clean WNW cross-off breeze in the morning. The combined energy is strong at 2225, and it’s glassy by the afternoon with a NE wind. This is excellent for experienced surfers – it’s overhead, powerful, and clean. The 8ft is pushing into expert territory, so leave the foamies at home.
Monday the 20th keeps the run going with a slightly bigger 8ft E swell, 12-second period, and a light WNW cross-off. Energy is strong at 1907. The morning is clean and punchy, but the afternoon gets a bit of a cross-shore chop. Still, this is a solid session for competent surfers.
Tuesday the 21st and Wednesday the 22nd bring a return of messy onshore winds and rain, so that’s a no-go.
Then we get a nice little run to finish the outlook. Thursday the 23rd is marginal, but Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th of July look promising. Friday morning has a 5ft ESE swell with an 11-second period and a clean NNW offshore wind – that’s 862 combined energy and really clean conditions. Saturday morning keeps it going with a 6ft ESE swell and a moderate offshore. These are good, clean surfs for the weekend.
Sunday the 26th wraps it up with a 5ft E swell, 11-second period, and glassy conditions in the afternoon. A nice way to end the run.
So, the best sessions are without a doubt Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th – big, clean, powerful east swell. After that, Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th offer smaller, cleaner fun. The long period on the 20th (12 seconds) will give some nice lines, but at a beach break like Bondi, it can be a bit straight. Still, with light winds, it’ll be worth it.
Stay patient, the wait is worth it.
Rusty.
