The Lowdown
Alright, let’s get into it. This is Rusty, looking at the next couple of weeks for Warriewood.
Right off the bat, it’s a bit of a slow start. The first few days are a write-off with weak, messy conditions and poor surf quality. We’ve got a bit of a wait on our hands. Things start to look up from Monday the 7th, but it’s not until Tuesday the 8th that we see something worth getting excited about.
The real standout is going to be Tuesday morning, the 8th of September. We’ve got a solid 8ft swell coming from the SSE, with a clean offshore wind out of the south. The water’s around 65°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year. The combined energy of all swells here is pumping at (911), so there’s some serious juice in the water. This is a great window for intermediate to experienced surfers, with clean, groomed lines on offer. The period is around 9 seconds, so it’s a nice, workable groundswell. Just be aware, crowds are possible here, so get in early.
The other highlight to watch is Friday the 11th of September. The morning brings a 7ft S swell with a 12-second period – that’s some proper long-period groundswell energy (1206). It’s offshore and clean, but with that long period, it might be a bit too straight for the beach, so keep an eye on how it handles the point. This one is for the experienced crew, as it’ll be powerful.
The weekend of the 12th and 13th sees the swell dropping off, and things get messy again. There’s a bit of a bump mid-week around the 15th, but with stronger winds and cross-off conditions, it’s not going to be the pick of the bunches.
So, to sum it up for Warriewood: the best windows are Tuesday the 8th and Friday the 11th of September. The rest of the 16 days is mostly a mix of marginal or poor conditions, with a few clean but small windows at the very end. It’s a bit of a waiting game, but when it comes on, it’ll be worth it.
