The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s coming for Warriewood.
We’ve got a bit of a slow start, with Tuesday the 21st and Wednesday the 22nd offering small, choppy surf with cross-onshore winds. Not worth getting wet for. Thursday the 23rd is even smaller, barely any energy. So that’s a three-day stretch of nothing much.
But things pick up Friday morning the 24th. A clean 2.2m swell from the S rolls in, with a combined energy of 1496—moderate to strong. Light cross-off wind keeps it clean. This one’s for the experienced crew, over 1.5m, and it’s got a nice shape. Water temp is 65°, right about average for the time of year.
The real standout, though, is the stretch from Friday the 31st of July into early August. We’re talking 3.0m to 3.5m swell from the S and SSE, with combined energy numbers climbing into the thousands (2782, 4088, 2174, 4745, 1534). That’s serious, strong energy. Offshore or cross-off winds keep it clean, especially on the 31st afternoon and the 1st of August morning. This is expert-only territory, over 2.5m, with periods around 10-12 seconds—plenty of punch. The point at Warriewood should handle the longer period stuff well. Crowds are possible, so be ready for company.
After that, the 5th of August still offers clean, offshore conditions with 1.4m to 1.2m swell. Good for a fun session, but not the standout.
So, bottom line: skip the first few days, hit Friday 24th for a taste, but the real gold is the 31st of July through the 4th of August. That’s the one.
