Table - best surf conditions forecast for Alfagar over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a pretty quiet run for the region. The first solid recommendation isn’t until the 12th of July, and even then it’s a struggle. We’re looking at a long stretch of small, weak energy with only a few glimmers of clean conditions, but the wave heights are tiny. The overall swell energy is weak, with the combined energy sitting at just 98. That’s not going to get anyone excited.
For the standout of the entire forecast, I’d have to point to the early morning of Monday, July 13th, at Alfagar. It’s a reef break, which usually handles smaller swell better than a beach. The swell is only 1.6 ft from the west, with a short period of 7 seconds, so it’s weak. But the wind is glassy—dead glass. Zero wind. That’s a rare treat. The water temperature is about average for this time of year, so nothing weird there. The downside is that this spot is inconsistent and rarely pumps, so you’re relying on a rare moment of flatness. Crowds are possible, but with such small surf, it’ll likely be quiet. This is the best of a very small bunch.
Beyond that, the rest of the period is a mix of tiny 0.7 ft to 2.6 ft swells, mostly cross-onshore or choppy. The next little window to keep an eye on is the morning of Saturday, July 18th, when it’s glassy again, but the swell is still only 2 ft and weak (37 combined energy). For the second week, from the 20th onward, it’s all small, mid-period NW groundswell, but the wind tends to be moderate onshore or cross-shore, making it messy. A few mornings have a clean offshore breeze, but the height is barely a ripple.
The long-range from the 23rd to the 27th of July is really just more of the same: tiny, weak, and not worth planning a trip around. The water stays about average temp-wise. Honestly, if you have a kite, this setup might be more interesting than a paddle.
Stay patient, crew. The ocean is taking a nap.
