Table - best surf conditions forecast for Alfagar over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – the next 16 days at Alfagar are looking pretty flat. This is a reef break that’s inconsistent at the best of times, and right now, the swell is just not showing up. We’ve got a long stretch of tiny, weak waves ahead, so don’t get your hopes up for anything special.
The water is sitting at 73°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least the paddle will be comfortable.
Starting from Wednesday, July 8th, we’ve got nothing but frustration. Tiny swell around 0.7ft to 1.0ft from the WNW, with a period of 10 seconds, but the combined energy is a measly 11 (weak). The wind is cross-on or cross-off, and the conditions are just poor. This dribble continues through Thursday and Friday, with a few glassy moments on Friday morning and Saturday morning, but the swell is still only 1.0ft to 2ft. The energy is weak, with values like 19 and 19 (combined energy). It’s surfable but very ordinary.
Sunday, July 12th, is the only day that might give you a knee-high wave. The morning brings a glassy 2ft swell from the WNW with a 9-second period, and the combined energy is 88 – still weak, but it’s the best of a bad bunch. The wind is glassy, so it’ll be clean, but the waves are just too small to get excited about. The afternoon gets choppy again with a cross-on wind.
After that, it’s a downhill slide. From Monday, July 13th, through to Thursday, July 23rd, the swell barely cracks 2ft, and the combined energy never gets above 60. Most days are a mix of clean offshore winds and choppy cross-shore slop, but the waves are just too weak. The swell period is mostly short, under 8 seconds, so there’s no power behind them.
The best call? Honestly, there isn’t one. This is a blank run for the area. The swell is too small, the energy is too weak, and the break is inconsistent. If you’ve got a longboard and you’re desperate, you might get a few ankle-biters on the morning of Sunday, July 12th, when it’s glassy. But for the rest of the 16 days, you’re better off waiting for a better forecast.
