### Imperial
Alright, listen up. We’re looking at Alfagar. It’s a reef setup, and I gotta be straight with you - it’s been a tough run. The first week or so is going to be a real grind. We’re looking at a gap of nearly two weeks before there’s anything worth paddling out for, so don't be in a rush.
The water temp is sitting right where it should be for this time of year, so no surprises there.
For Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th, the swell is tiny and inconsistent. Thursday morning is clean with a light offshore breeze, but with swell at about 1 foot and a weak combined energy (21), it’s more of a splash around than a surf. Friday morning the 10th is similar – clean but small. The wind stays light or offshore through a few mornings, but the energy just isn't there. The combined swell energy is in the teens or low twenties for most of that first week. That’s weak.
You'll see a bit more life on Sunday morning the 12th. The swell bumps up to about 2 feet with a combined energy of 67, and it’s clean with a light cross-offshore wind. It’s surfable, but very ordinary. There are a few more mornings like that – clean but small – right through the second week. The wind is favorable, but the waves just aren't showing up.
Now, the real standout is Monday morning, the 20th of July. Finally, some proper swell. We’re looking at a 4 foot swell from the NW, with a combined energy of 167. That’s moderate, solid energy. The wind will be a light cross-offshore breeze, keeping it clean. This is the best call of the whole 16 days. That NW direction is a good match for the break's optimum. It’s still a relatively short period for the size, but the combination of clean conditions and real energy makes this the one to circle on your calendar.
Thursday the 23rd also shows a 4 foot NW swell with a combined energy of 148 and a clean offshore wind. That’s another good one, but it's a long way out so treat it as promising, not guaranteed.
For the rest, keep your expectations low. It’s been a flat spell.
