Table - best surf conditions forecast for Super Tubes over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get into it. This is Rusty, and I’ve got the goods on Super Tubes.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this outlook is a real mixed bag. For a spot called Super Tubes, you’d think it’d be pumping, but the forecast is full of long flat spells and tricky conditions. The first real glimmer of hope doesn't show up until a week from now.
We kick things off on Tuesday, the 7th of July. Now, there is some swell in the water – a nice long period 18-second groundswell from the SSW, pushing in at about 3 ft. Combined energy is a solid 534, so there’s some grunt. Water temps are sitting at 66°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year. But here’s the kicker: the first couple of days are rated as marginal, with iffy winds and questionable tide. Not a write-off, but you’d be taking a gamble.
Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th are similar stories – small, clean-looking swell, but the wind is mostly cross or cross-offshore. Not terrible, but not the glassy perfection you want for a shallow reef. The energy dips into the 300s and 400s. Honestly, it’s surfable, but nothing to write home about.
Friday the 10th through to Monday the 13th is a bit of a drought. Swell holds around 2 ft to 3 ft, but the wind is constantly cross-on or onshore. The energy drops into the 200s. It’s not going to be pretty. You’d be battling chop and poor shape.
Now, let’s talk about the standout. On Monday the 13th, we finally get a break. The morning looks rough, but the afternoon session is the one to circle. We’ve got a clean 2 ft SSW swell and the wind swings around to a light breeze from the west, giving us that sweet cross-offshore flow. The energy is 273 – not massive, but with clean conditions, Super Tubes can offer up some fun little barrels. Keep in mind, this spot *rarely breaks* and when it does, it gets *often crowded*. But if you’re lucky, you might snag a gem.
The second week is thin. Swell drops to 1 ft to 2 ft through the 14th to the 16th. The 17th of July morning session shows another promising blip: a 1 ft SW swell with a very long 19-second period, clean winds from the WNW, and a combined energy jump to 282. It’s tiny, but that period is insane, so the reef might juice it up. Definitely an expert’s game at that size.
After that, things get a bit messy again. The 19th of July sees a jump in size to 5 ft from the south, but with onshore wind and choppy conditions, it’s a no-go. The combined energy spikes to 1012, which is strong, but the wind is all wrong. That big pulse might be more interesting for kite surfers than paddle surfers given the onshore wind.
For the last few days of the outlook, the 20th to the 22nd, we see some clean cross-off wind windows on the afternoons, especially on the 20th and the 21st, but the swell is small again – around 2 ft to 3 ft. There’s potential for a clean, small-wave session if you’re patient.
So, to sum it up: this is not a week of pumping surf. Monday the 13th afternoon and Friday the 17th morning are your best bets for clean, rideable waves at Super Tubes. For the rest, you’re mostly waiting, watching, and hoping the forecasts shift. It’s a fickle spot, and this is one of those times.
Rusty out.
