Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming down the pipe for the next couple of weeks.
Right now, we are looking at a pretty drawn-out stretch of small, clean surf at Rincon - The Cove. Water temp's sitting at 64°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – that anomaly is notable, you'll be comfortable in a spring suit.
The first real standout on the calendar is Tuesday, July 7th. We’ll see the swell bump up to a clean 2ft from the SSW, riding on a long 18-second period. That’s proper groundswell energy, and with the combined energy reading a solid 329, it’s got some moderate push. The wind is a light cross-offshore, so those lines will be smooth and peeling down the point. This is the best of the first week.
The good conditions hold through Wednesday the 8th as well, with similar sized swell (2ft) and that same 16-second period, even though the energy picks up to 421. Again, light cross-off winds make for a clean surface. If you’re looking for a window, Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon is it.
After that, things get a bit ordinary. From Thursday the 9th onwards, we’re into a long stretch of small, marginal waves and cross-onshore winds. From the 9th through the 16th, there’s a real dry spell. The swell drops, the winds turn more onshore or cross, and the wave heights barely tickle 2ft. It's a long gap of not much to get excited about.
There is a flicker of hope later on, though. Saturday, July 18th shows another promising morning with a 1ft SSW swell, a 17-second period, and the combined energy jumping back to 308. Winds stay light cross-off. It’s not as big as the early week, but it’s clean and a far cry from the flat spell before it.
So, for the whole outlook, the call is simple: Tuesday the 7th through Wednesday the 8th is your best bet. Get in the water then.
