The Lowdown
Alright, let’s switch it up for the imperial crew.
Same story, different numbers. The water is a balmy 70°F, which is a very unusual 7°F warmer than normal.
The best waves are on Sunday morning, July 26th. The swell is 2ft from the SSW, with a long 19-second period. The combined energy is moderate (341). A light cross-off breeze at 6 mph will keep it glassy. It’s clean and fun.
Saturday afternoon, July 25th, is tiny at 1ft, but with a massive 21-second period and a light cross-off, it’s surfable. Monday and Tuesday mornings, July 27th and 28th, both see 2ft of SSW swell, 18 and 17 seconds, with light cross-off winds. Wednesday afternoon, July 29th, is similar with 2ft.
Friday afternoon, July 31st, picks up to 3ft from the S, 14 seconds, with a gentle cross-off at 9 mph. The energy is moderate (428).
After the 1st of August, it goes downhill. By Sunday, August 2nd, the swell is only 2ft from the W with a weak 8-second period. From Monday, August 3rd, through to Sunday, August 9th, it’s almost all poor conditions with tiny waves, mostly under 1ft, and very low energy. Not worth the drive.
Rusty.
