Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Gonna run through the same outlook for Bethany, but in feet and knots. So, the next couple weeks are pretty slim pickings. There’s a big dry spell right off the bat – nothing worth a paddle until about Wednesday 16 July, which is more than a week out. From now until then, we’re looking at close to nine days of tiny, weak surf and generally poor wind. The swell energy reads low, mostly under 100, which is weak. There’s a moment of glass on Friday 10 July afternoon, but with only about 1ft of swell, you’d be bobbing, not riding.
Then on Wednesday 16 July morning, we finally get something. The ENE swell bumps up to about 3ft with a short period of 5 seconds, but the wind shifts out of the SSW, giving us clean offshore conditions. The combined energy hits 64 (moderate). It’s not big, but it’s the only window that looks surfable. Thursday afternoon stays offshore but drops to about 3ft.
That Wednesday 16 July morning is your standout. Bethany (beach/jetty) is exposed, and with the ENE swell coming from the optimum direction, you’ll get some clean little waves. Water temp is about average for July – no unusual warmth or cold. Crowds? It’s a Wednesday, so you might see a few others, but keep your hopes up. At 3ft, it’s fine for beginners as well.
After that, it fades. Thursday 17 July drops to about 2ft with cross-on wind, and by the weekend we’re back to tiny bump. The longer range into the third week of July shows a little blip on Tuesday 22 July afternoon with energy at 112 (moderate), but that’s over a week out and the wind is onshore – take it with a grain of salt.
So, bottom line: a long gap of nothing, then a tight window on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 July. If you’re going, that Wednesday morning is the best shot. Small, but clean. After that, we’re back to waiting.
Rusty.
