Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bethany over the next 16 days.

Alright, let’s have a look at what’s on offer for Bethany over the next couple of weeks. It’s a bit of a quiet stretch overall, so don’t get your hopes up for any pumping sessions.

We start off on Thursday the 9th, and honestly, there’s nothing to write home about. The water temperature’s sitting at 78°, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year – a nice surprise for the skin, but the surf just isn’t there. A small 1ft swell from the ENE with a short 7-second period and a cross-off breeze from the south makes for poor conditions.

Friday morning the 10th is still small, with 2ft from the SSE, period only 6 seconds, and a cross-off wind from the WNW. The wave energy is weak (46). It’s surfable, but very ordinary. Friday afternoon things get interesting for a moment – the wind goes glassy from the NNW, but the swell is still tiny at 2ft, and the energy drops to 39. It’s clean, but there’s just not enough push.

Saturday and Sunday are similar – small swells, onshore winds, and poor conditions. Sunday morning the 12th sees a bump in swell to 4ft from the ENE, but with a 19 mph onshore wind from the NE, it’s choppy and messy. Not worth paddling out.

We get a small window Monday the 13th with 3ft from the east, but the cross-on wind keeps it choppy. The energy is moderate (83), but the quality isn’t there.

Tuesday the 14th morning is one of the better moments – glassy conditions with a 2ft swell from the ESE, period 8 seconds. It’s clean, but still small. The energy is weak (44). Surfable, but nothing special.

From Wednesday the 15th through to Saturday the 18th, it’s a mix of offshore winds and tiny swell. The best of that stretch is Saturday morning the 18th, where we get a 0.3ft swell from the east with a 14-second period – that’s a very long period groundswell, but it’s so small it’s barely breaking. The energy is just 8. A clean, glassy ocean, but no surf to speak of.

Sunday the 19th morning brings a little pulse – 3ft from the SSE, period 7 seconds, with a light offshore wind from the WSW. The energy is moderate (59), and it’s clean. Still only surfable in a very ordinary way.

The last week is more of the same – small swells, cross-on winds, and poor conditions. Thursday the 23rd morning sees the largest swell of the forecast, 4ft from the NE, period 6 seconds, with a cross-off wind from the south. The energy is moderate (138), but the short period and cross-off wind mean it’s still not good.

Honestly, if you’re looking for a standout, Tuesday afternoon the 14th with that glassy morning is the closest we get to something clean – but the swell is too small to get excited about. More of a longboard cruise than a proper surf.

So, a bit of a dry run for Bethany. Keep an eye on things, but for now, it’s not really on.

Rusty.
