The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Chicahauk over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough stretch. We’re looking at a solid run of flat, tiny, and messy conditions. The first real whisper of a wave doesn’t even show up until Wednesday morning, July 29th, so we’ve got a long, quiet gap of about twelve days before anything worth paddling out for shows its face.
That first window on the 29th is a tease. We’re talking about small, knee-high swell at 2ft from the SSE, with a weak energy reading of just 61. The wind is offshore from the WSW though, so it’ll be clean. Wind is a moderate offshore, so it’s rideable but very ordinary. It’s not worth getting too excited about, but it’s the only surfable moment in the whole window.
The rest of the forecast is a bit of a write-off. There’s a pulse of windswell kicking up around the 23rd and 24th of July, with swell heights touching 6ft from the NNE and ENE, pushing the energy up to 436 (moderate wave energy). But the wind is a fresh cross-onshore, making it lumpy as hell. That setup at the beach looks far more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. The period is super short at 6 to 7 seconds, so it’s just a messy, bumpy wall of water.
The water temp is about average for the time of year, so nothing wild there. The only real positive is that on the 29th, you might get a few clean, crumbly rollers if you’ve got a log. But don’t expect much.
Rusty signing off.
