Alright, let’s get into it, this is Rusty checkin’ in. Honestly, looking at this 16-day window, it’s a real bummer for our little stretch. We’re staring at a whole lot of flatness.
For most of the run, the wave energy is barely a whisper – numbers like 32 or 44, just weak. There’s a little bump around July 12th, with some chest-high waves coming in from the ENE, 4 ft to 5 ft. The energy reads 109 and even 188, but here’s the problem: the wind is howling onshore at 15 to 18 mph, from the NE and ENE, just shredding any chance of a clean face. The period is short too, only 5 to 7 seconds, so it’s all chop and no push.
You get another pulse around July 21st, with some knee-to-waist high SSE swell (3 ft to 4 ft) and energy hitting 118 and 152. The wind might clean up a bit on the morning of the 21st with a light cross-off breeze, but it swings onshore by the afternoon. It’s not a total write-off, but nothing to get excited about.
If I’ve got to pick something, I’d say the morning of Wednesday, July 22nd at Chicahauk. The wind goes dead calm (NNW 3 mph), so it’s glassy. Swell is 3 ft from the SSE, period 8 seconds, with a moderate energy of 116. It’s not big, and it’s not powerful, but it’s clean. For the more experienced surfers, the bigger days around the 12th and 13th (up to 5 ft from the ENE) are expert-only territory, but that onshore wind makes it a mess.
So yeah, we’ve got long gaps of several days with nothing worth paddling out for. It’s a quiet stretch. Forecasts can change though, so don’t lose hope entirely. For now, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
