Table - best surf conditions forecast for Green Harbor over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: this look at Green Harbor is a tough one. We’re staring down a 16-day stretch where the surf just doesn’t show up in any meaningful way. It’s a real flat spell, so don’t get your hopes up. The setup here is a sheltered beach and jetty, and when there’s no swell wrapping in, it’s just a lake. The first hint of any real rideable energy doesn’t pop up until the 20th of July, so you’re looking at over a week of nothing on offer.
The water temp is sitting at 68°F, which is 1°F warmer than the usual for this time of year – nothing wild, just a touch on the warm side of average.
The only time things start to get interesting is around Monday the 20th of July. The afternoon shows a bump in activity with a clean, cross-off breeze from the NNE at 15 mph. The swell is coming from the East at 3ft, with a period of 6 seconds. That’s short-period, windswelly stuff. The combined energy hits 59 (moderate energy), which is the most we see in the whole window. The wind is offshore and clean, so the surface will be nice, but the wave shape is going to be small and crumbly. It’s not a standout, but it’s the only game in town.
Tuesday the 21st of July morning has a similar size – 3ft from the ENE with a period of 7 seconds and a combined energy of 96 (moderate energy). The wind is a light cross-shore from the SSE at 5 mph, so it’s workable but not glassy. This is probably the best looking session of the whole period, but it’s still just small, weak windswell. For a confident intermediate, you might get a few fun ones, but it’s nothing to write home about.
Everything else is a total write-off. Tiny waves, onshore winds, or just flat calm. The beach break setup with this weak, short-period swell just isn’t doing anyone any favors. If you’re desperate for a paddle, maybe the 20th or 21st, but otherwise, keep the board in the car.
Rusty.
