Table - best surf conditions forecast for Lecount Hollow over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let me level with you straight up about this next stretch. I’ve had a good look at the charts, and honestly, it’s a grim run for a paddle. This forecast window is basically one long, flat spell with a few blips of tiny, weak energy that won’t get you out of a longboard. The only break in the game is Lecounts Hollow, but it’s a tough sell.
Right now, water temps here are reading a touch warmer than normal for the season at around 68°, which is nice, but that’s about the only thing to smile about. Let’s walk through it day by day.
From Thursday the 9th of July right through the rest of the month, the numbers are ugly. We start with a tiny 3ft east swell, but it’s weak – only 129 units of combined energy – and that’s the high point. The wind is a cross-off breeze, but it’s not enough to save it. The wave comment labels it “poor surf conditions” and the score is a flat zero. That pretty much sets the tone.
Friday the 10th drops even further to 2ft, and by Saturday the 11th we’re looking at a pathetic 1ft to 2ft swell from the NNE with an even shorter period of 4 seconds. That’s just wind chop, not real surf. The energy numbers sink into the low 20s and 30s, which is barely a ripple.
The middle of the week, around Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th, we get some clean conditions with a glassy surface and offshore winds. But the swell is microscopic – 0.7ft. That’s lake flat. You’ll be sitting on your board staring at a mirror. The energy is down to single digits for a bit there.
There’s a small flicker of hope early on Wednesday the 15th morning, with clean, moderate offshore winds from the WSW and a 1ft south swell. Still, it’s weak (35 combined energy) and small. The period is a short 7 seconds, so don’t expect any push. Wednesday afternoon goes glassy, but again, it’s just 0.7ft.
The pattern holds firm through the following week. There are a few days where the swell kicks up to 2ft or even 3ft briefly on Saturday the 18th and Tuesday the 21st, but the wind turns cross-onshore, chopping it up. The periods stay short and the energy numbers rarely break 50. It’s a total bust for a decent wave.
So, is there a standout? No. There isn’t a single session in this 16-day window that I’d even call a “session.” If you have a kite, Saturday the 18th afternoon with a 3ft south swell and light onshore wind might give you something to pull against, but for paddling? Leave the boards in the car. For a spot that’s normally consistent, this is a proper dry spell. The only thing to do is wait for the next set of charts to roll in. Forecasts change.
Until then, I’m Rusty.
