Alright, Rusty here, lookin' at the next couple of weeks for us. It's not gonna be a full-on epic, but there are a few windows where we can get something decent.
We're starting this Saturday, the 4th of July, with some clean, rideable waves at Point Loma. The water is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, which is a nice bonus. The morning kicks off with a gentle offshore wind and a clean 2ft swell from the southwest. The combined energy is moderate, hitting 401. It's not huge, but it's clean and surfable. The afternoon drops off a little to 2ft, but it's still clean with a light offshore breeze.
Sunday the 5th stays small, with 2ft SW swell. The wind is a bit more side-offshore but it stays clean for the morning and goes moderate offshore in the afternoon. It's very ordinary but rideable.
Monday the 6th is where things start to get a bit more interesting. The morning has a clean 3ft SW swell with gentle offshore winds and moderate combined energy at 488. The afternoon really perks up with a 2ft swell, but look at that period – 20 seconds! That's a proper groundswell. Combine that with a moderate offshore breeze and a combined energy of 593, and it's got some grunt. This is the best on offer right now.
Tuesday the 7th is another good one. The morning has 4ft of clean, side-offshore SW swell with strong energy at 768. The afternoon holds at 3ft with similar conditions. Solid, clean and fun.
Wednesday the 8th keeps the run going. 3ft SW swell in the morning with light cross-offshore winds, and the combined energy is pumping at 923. The afternoon stays clean and 3ft. This is a standout morning for sure.
From Thursday the 9th onward, things get messy. We're looking at a stretch of cross-shore and onshore winds that ruin the surface, making it choppy and uninviting through to Saturday the 11th. Surf quality drops right off. Best to sit this one out and wait for the next clean-up.
We get a brief window on Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th, with a return to clean, but small, conditions around 3ft. Nothing special, just ordinary, rideable waves. A lot of the following week is filled with poor or very ordinary conditions as the wind switches around. There's a small, clean 3ft westerly windswell with a short period of 8 seconds on Tuesday the 14th, but it’s not going to have much shape.
The long-range stuff into the second week is pretty quiet and uncertain. We see a few clean days with small swell, but nothing that screams "go". The standout period is definitely the clean, moderate energy from Monday the 6th through Wednesday the 8th. Get it while it's good.
Rusty.
