The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get right into it for Georgica Pond.
First off, the outlook is a bit of a tough one. This spot is a sandbar setup that’s inconsistent, so it tends to be a waiting game, and this 16-day window is no exception. The water temp is sitting around 71°, which is about average for this time of year, so nothing wild there.
Looking at the whole run, from September 7th all the way through the 22nd, there’s a real lack of quality on offer. The first few days are a complete write-off—tiny, weak swell with poor surf conditions. Monday the 7th has a tiny 1ft from the east, but with only 45 combined energy, there’s just nothing to work with. That trend continues through Tuesday and Wednesday; the waves are small and the wind is messy.
We do see a bit of a spike in size on Thursday the 10th, with a 7ft swell from the southwest, and combined energy jumping to 442. That’s a moderate pulse of energy, but it’s a short-period swell (7 seconds) and the wind is cross-shore, making it choppy and lumpy. The wave comment calls it "poor surf conditions," so despite the size, it’s not the one to chase.
The only real standout in the whole window lands on Friday, September 11th. The morning surf is the best on offer. We’ve got a clean 3ft from the southwest, and the wind is offshore from the NNW at 12 mph. The combined energy is only 75, so it’s weak, but the conditions are described as "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions." For this spot, that’s as good as it gets in this forecast. The period is a short 7 seconds, so it’ll be a bit choppy and quick, but the clean offshore wind will make it rideable. After that, it’s back to tiny, weak, and messy for the rest of the run.
The bottom line: if you’re desperate for a paddle, Friday the 11th morning is your only real shot. Otherwise, it’s a long, quiet stretch with nothing to get excited about. Keep an eye on the forecasts, because things can change, but for now, this is a pretty blank run for Georgica Pond.
Rusty.
