Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for North Bar over the next couple of weeks.
To be straight with you, it’s a pretty bleak stretch. We’re looking at a long dry spell with no real surf to get excited about. From now right through to Saturday morning, July 11th, it’s just poor conditions and tiny waves. You’d be wasting your time paddling out. The first faint glimmer of anything rideable doesn’t show until that Saturday, but even then it’s nothing to write home about.
The water temperature at North Bar is about average for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
Come Saturday morning, July 11th, we finally see a bit of a pulse. Swell bumps up to 3 ft from the south with a period of 8 seconds, and the combined energy is moderate at 152. The wind is light and cross-offshore from the west, which will leave things clean. The forecast says “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions,” so it’s not a classic, just a chance to get a few weak ones. This is honestly the closest thing to a highlight in the whole run, but it’s a low bar.
After that, it’s right back to tiny, poor surf. Gaps of four, five, six days at a time with nothing worth mentioning. The rest of the second week is all swell under 2 ft, with weak energy readings in the single digits or teens. Even a glassy morning on Saturday, July 18th, with no wind and a 1.0 ft SE swell, it’s still just too small to bother.
So, if you’re desperate, that Saturday morning July 11th is your one shot, but keep expectations low. For everyone else, this is a classic blank run for the area—it happens. Forecasts can always shift, so don’t lose hope entirely, but for now, leave the boards at home.
