Table - best surf conditions forecast for North Bar over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for North Bar over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, mate, it’s a grim stretch to start. For the first thirteen days, from Thursday July 9th right through to Tuesday July 22nd, the surf is pretty much a write-off. We’re talking tiny lumps, weak energy, and nothing that’ll get you out of bed. The combined energy of all swells directed here barely cracks three digits – mostly sitting in the 40s and 50s, with a few days even dipping into the teens and twenties. That’s weak, flat energy, and the wave comment just hammers it home: poor surf conditions day after day. There’s a gap of nearly two weeks with no real recommendation.
Now, late in the run, there’s a flicker. On Wednesday July 22nd, into the afternoon, we finally see something with a bit of puff. The swell jumps to 5ft from the south, with a period of 7 seconds. That’s a short-period swell, so it’ll be a bit lumpy and won’t have that long, lined-up feel, but it’s the biggest wave we’ve seen. Combined energy hits 266 – that’s moderate wave energy, and it finally tosses up a “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions” tag. The wind is light and cross-offshore, so the surface will be clean. That’s the best on offer, and it’s the only real standout. The crowd factor is “sometimes,” so you might have a few others with the same idea.
The next morning, Thursday July 23rd, drops back to 3ft south, and the energy drops to 124. Still clean with light cross-off wind, but nothing special. Then on Friday July 24th, the morning session goes glassy with 3ft south swell, energy at 96, and those waves are again “surfable but very ordinary.” So, if you’re desperate for a paddle, the 22nd afternoon is your best shot, but keep your expectations low.
Water temperature is about average for the time of year, no big surprises there.
Signing off, Rusty.
