Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here, let’s take a look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks.
To be honest, it’s a bit of a slow start across the board. The first week or so is a write-off for decent waves. We’re looking at a long stretch of poor conditions – small, weak, and messy. The first glimpse of anything worth paddling out for doesn’t show up until Thursday the 9th of July, and even then, it’s tiny.
The real standout, and the only time I’d get excited, arrives on Saturday the 18th of July. That afternoon, North Bar starts seeing a solid 8ft swell out of the south, with clean, off-the-wind conditions. The combined energy ramps right up to 835 – that’s a proper pulse of power. This one is for the experienced crew only, as anything over 8ft starts pushing into expert territory. It’s a beach and reef setup, so the wind will be the key, and that SSW breeze is holding things together nicely. There will be crowds around, so get there early.
Sunday the 19th keeps the run going, with a 7ft south swell and good offshore wind for the morning, combined energy at 702. It’s still big and punchy, though the afternoon gets a bit more cross-off. For the average surfer, the best call is to wait for that Saturday push. Before that, on Thursday the 9th, you might get a few tiny 2ft waves out of the southeast, but the wind is offshore and clean, so if you’re desperate for a session on a longboard, it’s there.
The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing wild to report.
For the second week, the surf looks very inconsistent after that Saturday blast, with size dropping off quickly into small and choppy conditions. Keep an eye on the forecasts, but for now, that Saturday the 18th is the only red-letter day.
Rusty.
