Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what North Bar has got cooking for us. Honestly, it's going to be a long, frustrating wait. We kick off the outlook on Monday the 6th of July, and for nearly a full week, it’s just no good. The first few days are hammered by onshore winds and heavy rain, with messy, lumpy conditions and wave energy barely scraping 50 (combined energy of all swells). It's a total write-off.
Things start to look a little better around Wednesday afternoon, the 8th. The wind swings around to a cross-offshore, and while the swell is a tiny 3ft from the east, the combined energy is a weak 96. It's surfable but completely ordinary. Not worth getting too excited about.
We get a bit of a tease on the 11th of July, Saturday morning. The swell jumps to 2ft from the east-northeast, but it's onshore again. The afternoon is cleaner with a cross-offshore breeze and a 2ft swell from the south, but at a weak 83 combined energy. It's still just "surfable."
The first real standout, if you can call it that, comes on Sunday the 13th of July. Get your wetsuit ready for the morning session. We’ve got a jump in swell to 7ft from the south, with a period of 8 seconds. The combined wave energy hits a solid 501, which is moderate energy. The wind is a clean cross-offshore from the south-southeast. That 7ft is getting into the territory where it's for the more experienced crew, but it’s the best looking window in the whole run. It's a bit of a specific window though, as the afternoon turns messy again.
After that, it’s back to smaller, cleaner conditions but with very little push. We see a few afternoons around the 17th and 18th of July with 4ft to 4ft south swells and offshore winds, but the energy is still only moderate (144-185). It’s surfable, but you’ll be scratching for the set waves at North Bar.
The real standout in the entire forecast is that Sunday morning, the 13th of July. The combination of a solid 7ft south swell with clean, cross-offshore wind from the SSE gives us the best chance at a decent session. It’s not perfect, but it’s the pick of a pretty bare crop. Get on it if you can.
Rusty.
