The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty checkin’ in. Straight up, the outlook for North Bar over the next 16 days is a tough one to swallow. We’re looking at a long, quiet stretch with very little to get excited about. The water’s sitting at 68°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you’ll want a good spring suit.
The first week is basically a write-off. From Wednesday the 15th through to the 19th, the swell is tiny, with heights barely scraping 1 ft and energy levels in the single digits (12). It’s clean, sure, but there’s nothing to ride. That’s a solid 5-day gap of flatness.
Things pick up a little around Monday the 20th, when a 6 ft southerly swell rolls in with a combined energy of 495. That’s moderate energy, but it’s arriving with a strong cross-onshore easterly wind, making it choppy and messy. Not worth paddling out.
The only real window where it gets interesting is the afternoon of Wednesday the 22nd. We get a 5 ft south swell, 9-second period, with a gentle offshore wind from the WSW. That’s clean, lined up, and the moderate energy (417) should offer some fun, punchy waves. The crowd factor is “sometimes,” so it won’t be a circus, but don’t expect solitude. This is the standout of the whole forecast – a solid afternoon session for the intermediate crew.
After that, it’s back to mediocrity. The 28th of July shows another promising window with a 4 ft south swell and a gentle offshore breeze, but it’s far out and less certain. The rest of the period is plagued by small, weak swells and onshore or cross-shore winds.
Honestly, for the next 16 days, the only call to make is the afternoon of the 22nd. Everything else is a pass. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
