Table - best surf conditions forecast for Indian River (Northside) over the next 16 days.

Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking for the Indian River (Northside) stretch over the next couple of weeks.

Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you—this isn’t a run of classics. The first few days are a write-off. Thursday the 9th is a total mess: small, bumpy, and cross-shore junk. You’re better off staying home.

Friday the 10th morning is the first flicker of hope. We get a clean 2 ft swell from the SSE with a gentle offshore breeze from the WNW. It’s small, but it’s the best we’ve seen so far. The combined energy is weak at (57), so don’t expect much push, but it’s rideable for a beginner on a longboard. The water temperature is about average for the time of year.

Saturday the 11th morning is glassy, but the swell drops to 1 ft—barely a ripple. The rest of the weekend and into the start of next week is a no-go. Sunday the 12th through Tuesday the 14th sees a bump in swell height, getting up to 5 ft, but the wind is hammering from the ENE at 19 mph, creating a lumpy, cross-onshore mess. The combined energy gets up to moderate levels (167) on Tuesday morning, but with that wind and chop, it’s not worth paddling out for.

We get a brief, clean moment on Wednesday the 15th morning with a light SW cross-off breeze and a knee-high 2 ft swell. Again, it’s small and ordinary, but at least it’s clean for a sneaky session.

Then we hit a real dry spell. From Thursday the 16th through to Sunday the 19th, it’s flat to tiny, with swells under 1 ft. There’s a clean offshore window on Saturday the 18th morning with a 2 ft swell from the NNE, but the period is a super short 4 seconds—just wind chop. Not worth the drive.

The biggest pulse of the whole forecast shows up on Monday the 20th afternoon. We get a 5 ft swell from the S, but the wind is a cross-onshore SE at 12 mph, and the energy is moderate (123). The wind and chop ruin it, though. Tuesday the 21st morning is glassy, with a 4 ft S swell, but it’s still just ordinary, and the energy is weak (79). For a more experienced surfer, that glassy morning might be the only real window, but the waves are gonna be soft and lumpy.

After that, the end of the run is a mix of tiny, clean, or windy days with nothing to get excited about. The last notable mention is Friday the 24th morning, with a clean 3 ft SSE swell and a light WNW cross-off breeze—another small, ordinary session.

Best on offer: If you’re desperate, Friday the 10th morning has the cleanest small waves for a beginner. If you’re an expert looking for the biggest, cleanest window, it’s Tuesday the 21st morning—glassy, 4 ft, but it’s a beach break with a short 6-second period, so it’ll be a bit fat and soft. For anyone else, this is a lean stretch. Hang tight, forecasts can change.

Rusty.
