Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what the next couple of weeks are serving up for Crystals.
To be straight with you, this is a pretty grim run. The whole 16-day window is a struggle, and there isn’t a single standout session in the bunch. The first real chance for a paddle comes with a weak, short-period swell on Wednesday the 8th of July, but even then it’s a messy 4ft cross-onshore ENE swell with only moderate wave energy (118). The wind is chopping it up, so don't expect anything clean. That’s really as good as it gets, and that’s not saying much.
The rest of the period is filled with tiny, weak swells, mostly under 3ft, with cross-shore or onshore winds that keep the surface lumpy. You’ll see a brief moment of clean conditions on Friday the 10th of July morning, with a light offshore wind, but the swell is a pathetic 1ft and the energy is barely there (36). It’s flat and frustrating. There’s a gap of several days where you’re just looking at knee-high dribble with a cross-chop. By the second week, it’s the same story – tiny swell, weak energy, and a persistent onshore or cross-shore breeze. On Sunday the 19th of July morning, you get a brief moment of glassy conditions with a 3ft ENE swell, but the period is a miserable 4 seconds, so it’s more of a lake than a surf.
To be honest, with this much wind and these tiny, weak waves, this setup looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer. There’s just not enough power or shape for us. Hang tight, because forecasts can change, but right now, this is a long blank patch.
Rusty.
