Table - best surf conditions forecast for Crystals over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the menu for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: it’s a tough stretch. For the first week, we’re staring down a whole lot of nothing. From now through to the end of next week, the swell is tiny and the conditions are mostly messy. There’s a solid eight or nine days where you’d be wasting your time paddling out. The energy is just not there, and the few little bumps we get are blown out by onshore winds.
There is a flicker of life, though. Sunday the 19th is our one true standout, and it’s a long way off, so keep an eye on it. Crystals wakes up with a solid pulse of swell: 6ft of east-northeast swell. It’s a short-period windswell, just 6 seconds, so it won’t have much push, but the offshore winds from the west-southwest in the morning will clean it right up. The combined energy is up there at (305), a real kick after all this quiet. This is the one session to pencil in, but because it’s a beach/jetty setup and the period is short, it’s not going to be peeling perfection. The water is a touch warmer than normal at 76°, feels good for mid-July.
The rest of that weekend and into Monday the 20th still has some size – around 5ft to 6ft – but the wind goes cross-shore or onshore, making it a choppy mess. Not worth the paddle.
After that, from Tuesday the 21st right through to the end of the 16-day window, it all fades away again. Tiny little slop, no energy to speak of. We’re talking swell under 2ft for most of that second week, with combined energy dropping to single or low double digits. Total flat spell.
So, to sum it up: one morning (Sunday the 19th) is your best bet, but don’t expect magic. The rest is a write-off. As we say around here, it won't stay poor forever.
Rusty.
