Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, listen up. I’ve been staring at the charts for North Wildwood and I gotta be straight with you – for a good long while, it’s looking pretty grim. There’s a real dry spell on the cards here. For the first week, from Monday the 6th of July right through to Sunday the 12th, there is just nothing worth paddling out for. The energy is weak, the winds are either onshore or cross-shore, and the wave comment section tells the whole story: poor surf conditions across the board. So, if you’re itching to get wet, you’re gonna have to be patient.
Now, things start to get a little more interesting as we head into the second week. Monday the 13th of July is still marginal, with a bit more size – around 6ft to 6ft coming from the east – but the wind isn't doing us any favors, so it’s still a pass.
But hold onto your boardies, because *Tuesday morning the 14th of July* is the one to circle on the calendar. This is the standout of the entire 16-day window. We’ve got a solid 7ft east swell rolling in, and the wind is swinging offshore from the WSW, cleaning it right up. The combined wave energy is pumping at 1029 – that’s strong, and you’ll feel the push. This is a proper groundswell, with a period of 9 seconds, so the waves will have some shape and power, but be warned: this size is for the experienced crew only. Beginners, sit this one out on the sand. At North Wildwood, it’s a sandbar break that’s fairly consistent, but with a crowd rating of ‘often’, expect a few other locals to have the same idea. The water temp is sitting at 77°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so you can leave the thick wetsuit at home.
After that Tuesday morning peak, the energy drops off fast. Tuesday afternoon, the swell halves and the wind swings cross-shore, making things messy. From Wednesday the 15th right through to the end of the period on Tuesday the 21st of July, it’s pretty much back to tiny, weak junk. There’s a little bit of clean, glassy surf on Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th, but we’re talking knee-high at best – surfable if you’re desperate, but nothing to get excited about. So, to sum it up: you’ve got one proper window on Tuesday the 14th. Make it count.
