Table - best surf conditions forecast for LBI Long Beach Island over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s break down LBI for the next couple weeks in feet and miles per hour.
It’s gonna be a tough stretch. The first week and a half is mostly flat, weak, and messy. The water is running about 76°, which is *much warmer than usual*—roughly 5° above the norm, so it’s like bathwater, but the surf is flat.
Friday July 10th is the only half-decent option early on. Morning at LBI Long Beach Island has a light offshore breeze from the NW at 6 mph. The swell is a tiny 1 ft from the ENE with a short 8-second period. The wave energy is just 47—dribbly. It’s clean, but only good for a log or a foil. Afternoon sees the wind shift to a light offshore from the WNW at 3 mph. Swell bumps to 2 ft from the S, still with a weak 6-second period. Clean, but barely surfable.
From Saturday July 11th through Thursday July 16th, it’s a total loss. Winds are cross-shore, onshore, choppy. Swell stays under 3 ft. Wave energies are all in the teens and twenties. Nothing to get excited about.
Friday July 17th morning shows a glimmer: 3 ft from the S at 7 seconds, with a clean offshore breeze from the NNE at 6 mph. Energy hits 78—still weak, but the cleanest in days. The afternoon gets chopped out by a cross-onshore wind.
Another dead zone from Saturday July 18th to Monday July 20th. Onshore winds, lumpy, stormy. Skip it.
Now, Tuesday July 21st morning we finally get a solid swell: 4 ft from the ESE, 7-second period, clean cross-offshore wind from the NNE at 12 mph. Energy jumps to 125—moderate push. That afternoon sees 5 ft with energy at 209, but the wind goes cross-shore, making it messier.
Wednesday July 22nd morning brings the first real size: 5 ft from the ENE at 7 seconds, energy at 237. Wind is a light cross-shore from the NE at 6 mph. It’s short-period, so it’ll be lumpy, but there’s some power. Might be too much for beginners.
The real standout is Friday July 24th afternoon. Swell is 4 ft from the SSE, but the period stretches to 9 seconds, and the energy hits 375—strong. Wind is cross-offshore from the W at 12 mph, keeping things super clean. This is the best session of the whole 16 days. Proper waves, nice shape, clean conditions.
Saturday July 25th stays clean with cross-offshore winds, but the swell drops back to 4 ft from the SE with a 6-second period. Energy falls to 186. Still rideable, but not as good.
So bottom line: leave the board in the car until the last week. Friday July 24th afternoon is your best bet by a long shot. The rest is just waist-high slop or blown-out junk.
Rusty.
