Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ocean City - 8th Street over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, and I gotta be straight with you – the next 16 days are looking pretty grim for Ocean City - 8th Street. It’s a real flat spell. There’s no surf worth paddling out for in the entire forecast window. The energy just isn't there.
Right off the bat, the first few days are a total write-off. We’re talking tiny, weak swell with a combined energy that barely cracks 40 (43 on the 8th). The water is a balmy 77°, which is a whopping 5° warmer than normal for this time of year – that's very unusual, feels like a bathtub. But that warmth doesn't help the waves. It’s just small, onshore chop.
We do get a few brief windows of clean conditions. Like Friday the 10th, with a light offshore wind, but the swell is a pathetic 2ft from the SSE. It’s clean, sure, but there’s nothing to ride. A couple of mornings later, like the 15th, we see a slight bump to 4ft from the S, but it’s a short-period, weak windswell with a combined energy of just 89. It’s still not enough to get excited about.
The whole second week is the same story. The swell barely registers, with heights dropping to 0.7ft and energy levels in the single digits. Even a glassy, 13-second period groundswell on the 19th is only 0.3ft – that’s just a lake. It’s a long, flat stretch.
This is a beginner spot, and honestly, for a beginner, this is just a week of swimming. For anyone else, it’s a good time to take a break. For this area, a blank run like this is more normal than a surprise. Don’t waste your time checking the cams. Forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing to chase.
Rusty.
