Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bay Head over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let me level with you. Over the next two weeks and a bit, looking at Bay Head, I'm seeing a whole lot of nothing. It’s a painful stretch, with hardly any energy to work with.
Right now, and for pretty much the entire week, we’ve got tiny, weak swell. The best we see is on the afternoon of Friday July 10th, when a glassy window opens up and the swell ticks up to a measly 2 ft from the S with a period of 6 seconds. The combined energy is a paltry 68, so you’re really just bobbing around on a longboard. It’s surfable for a beginner in the right spot, but it’s very ordinary. That’s the standout, if you can call it that, simply because there’s clean conditions with the glassy wind.
Then we hit a dry gap. From Saturday July 11th all the way through to Tuesday July 21st, it’s basically a write-off. Small, onshore or cross-onshore wind, tiny swell, poor surf conditions across the board. You’ll see a few afternoons go glassy—like the Saturday and Sunday, July 18th and 19th—but the swell is still tiny, under 2 ft, and the energy’s barely registering (24 and 26). It’s flat.
The only glimmer of a pulse comes much later, on Tuesday July 21st in the afternoon. We see the swell hit a whole 3 ft from the S, 7 seconds, but the wind is a cross-onshore mess at 16 mph with risk of storms. The combined energy hits 110, weak but at least it's there. The waves would be chop. Honestly, more interesting for kite surfing than paddling at that beach/jetty setup with that wind.
The water temp on July 9th sits at 72°, which is about average for the time of year here.
Bay Head is a beginner’s spot, and through this 16-day window, the pickings are so slim you might as well leave the board in the car. The Friday the 10th afternoon glass-off is the only session that’s even worth a mention, and even then, keep expectations on the floor. For the rest of it, it’s an empty forecast.
Stay patient, Rusty.
