Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, let’s look at what we’ve got for the next 16 days, and I’ll be straight with you—it’s almost totally flat. There isn’t a single day I’d call good. The only break in the mix is Jenkinson’s (Point Pleasant Beach), and it’s a rough sell.
We start off small and messy. Tuesday morning, July 7th, there’s a 4ft swell from the ENE with a weak period, cross-on wind, and just a choppy mess. The energy is weak (138 combined).
Thursday morning, July 9th, the swell drops to a tiny 2ft from the east (76 combined energy), but the wind goes light and cross-off, making it clean. It’s surfable, but you’ll be fighting for knee-high slop if you’re lucky.
Then from Friday the 10th through Saturday the 18th, it’s a dead zone. We get a few patches of clean water with offshore winds around the 16th and 17th, but the swell is barely 2ft to 3ft with a short period. The energy never gets past weak (combined energy of 59 to 64). You’d be better off just looking at the water.
Your best shot, and it’s a poor one, is the afternoon of Sunday, July 19th. You get a tiny 2ft SSE swell (64 combined energy) with light offshore wind, so it’s clean. It’s surfable, but very ordinary.
With such a strong onshore flow and small, weak swell, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddling a surfboard. It’s a tough run, but we’re used to these flat spells around here, and things can turn around.
