Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jenkinsons (Point Pleasant Beach) over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Alright, I gotta be straight with you – the next ten days are looking pretty grim for a proper paddle. We've got a long stretch of tiny, weak swells and mostly iffy wind. The only real blip on the radar comes around the third week of the month, but even then, it's nothing to write home about. Let's break it down.
We're starting off on Monday, July 13th, and honestly, it's a washout. Jenkinsons in Point Pleasant Beach is seeing a tiny 1-foot SE swell with a short 9-second period. The combined wave energy is a measly 25, so there's just no power. The wind is cross-shore, making it messy. This same flat, poor pattern hangs around through the week. We get a little clean-up from a W wind on Wednesday morning, July 15th, but the swell is still only 1 feet – it's a lake out there. Thursday, July 16th through Saturday, July 19th, is more of the same: tiny, weak swells (0.7 feet to 0.3 feet) with combined energy levels barely cracking 20. There's a weird spike Saturday afternoon, July 18th, with a 5-foot S swell, but it's a windswell with a period of just 5 seconds and a combined energy of 117, coming in with a risk of thunderstorms and cross-shore winds. That's a messy, choppy mess, not worth your time.
We finally get a bit of a pulse around Tuesday, July 21st. The morning shows a 3-foot SSE swell with an 8-second period, and combined energy hits 149 – that's moderate energy, finally. The wind is a clean cross-offshore from the SW, which is a major positive. It's still only a 1 out of 10 on the score, we're calling it "surfable but very ordinary," but honestly, after this long flat spell, it's the best we've got. The afternoon gets blown out with stronger WSW wind, so the morning window on the 21st is your only real chance for a few grovelly ones. Wednesday morning, July 22nd, is similar with a 3-foot swell and a light NW wind, but the energy is dropping back to 95.
After that, it's gone again. From Thursday, July 23rd, right through Tuesday, July 28th, we're back to tiny, weak swells, onshore winds, and even some rain. Combined energy stays below 20 on most days. It's a proper blank run.
So, the one standout here is the morning of Tuesday, July 21st. It's not going to be epic, but for a spot that's been dead for a week and a half, a clean 3-foot swell with a light offshore wind is a gift. It's an exposed beach/jetty, so any E to NE swell would be better, but we take what we can get. The crowds are "often" an issue here, but on a Tuesday morning with waves this small, you might have a bit more room to yourself.
Don't hold your breath for the rest of the forecast. It's a long, quiet period, but that's just how it goes sometimes around here. Forecasts can change, so keep an eye on it.
Rusty.
