The Lowdown
Alright folks, it's Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's on the table for Deadman's. We got a bit of a slow burn to start, but there's a couple of windows that could be worth a paddle if you're patient. The water is sitting at a balmy 70°, which is a solid 6° warmer than usual for this time of year – that's a proper anomaly, you'll be surfing in boardies no problem.
The first few days are a write-off. Friday the 21st had some tiny surfable waves, but nothing to write home about. Saturday the 22nd through Sunday the 23rd is just flat and poor, with light cross breezes messing up the surface. You’re looking at a gap of a few days with nothing on offer.
Things start to perk up a bit come Monday morning the 24th. We've got a clean 2ft SSW swell wrapping in, with a light cross-offshore wind. The combined swell energy is moderate at 318. It's not big, but it's clean. Tuesday morning the 25th follows a similar vibe with a 2ft SW groundswell and light cross-off wind, energy still moderate at 270. Solid small-wave options for the loggers.
Now, the standout for the whole period is Wednesday afternoon the 26th of August. The wind goes glassy, absolutely dead calm, and that 5ft S swell is packing a punch with a combined energy of 990. It's a moderate swell with a period of 14 seconds, which is a proper groundswell. This is the one to circle. The waves will be clean as a whistle, but remember, this spot is a point break that *rarely breaks*, so you’ve got to be sharp. Also, the crowds are *often* here, so don't expect a solo session.
We get a bit of a messy spell after that, with onshore winds and lumpy conditions through the 27th and 28th. The energy picks up but the quality drops. Saturday afternoon the 29th brings another decent window: a clean 3ft SSW swell with a cross-off breeze and a combined energy of 671. That's the secondary call.
The beginning of September goes quiet again, with poor bumps and tiny waves. The final call of the run is Friday afternoon the 4th of September: a clean 3ft SSW swell with a light cross-off wind, energy at 361. It's a better option than the nothingburger around it, but it's not a showstopper. So, keep your eyes on Wednesday the 26th. That's the one.
Rusty.
