Table - best surf conditions forecast for Deadman's over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s coming up at Deadman’s.
It’s a quiet run ahead, no two ways about it. This point is a rare one to break, and over the next 16 days there’s a long dry spell before anything really worth paddling out for. The first proper chance you get is Sunday afternoon, July 12th. The swell is tiny at 3 ft from the SSW, with a period of 14 seconds. That’s a long-period groundswell, which means better shaped waves here, with longer gaps between sets. The wind goes light cross-offshore from the W, so it’ll be clean. Combined energy is moderate at 333. For a spot that rarely breaks, this is the window. Water temp is 66°, which is a touch warmer than usual for the time of year.
After that, things go quiet again, but there’s another real bright spot late in the week. Come Saturday afternoon, July 18th, the SSW swell hangs at 2 ft with an 18-second period. The wind turns light cross-off from the WNW, giving clean conditions. Combined energy is 296 – moderate. For Deadman’s, that’s worth the look. Crowds are often here, so expect some company.
Into the second week around July 21st and 22nd, the swell tries to build back to 3 ft from the SSW, periods around 15 seconds, but the wind is mostly cross-on or onshore, ruining the quality. Combined energy touches the 300s (395 on Tuesday afternoon), but with onshore wind and poor conditions, it’s a no-go.
The honest take: your best bets are Sunday afternoon, July 12th, and Saturday afternoon, July 18th. Small, clean, with that long-period push. Everything else is flat or messy.
Rusty.
