Deadman's Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, Rusty here, looking at the forecast for Deadman's. We've got a bit of a slow start, but there's a solid window of action coming up.

Right now, there's nothing doing. The first surf we can really talk about kicks off on Friday afternoon, the 4th of September. The water is a very unusual 71°, which is 6° warmer than normal for this time of year. That's a real standout.

The first real highlight is Friday afternoon. Deadman's will be seeing a clean 3ft SSW groundswell, with a long 16-second period. The wind is a light cross-offshore out of the west, which is a huge plus for clean waves. The combined energy is moderate (599). This is a classic point break setup, so that long period will translate into some nice, lined-up waves, but it is a spot that rarely breaks, so this is a special chance. Crowds are likely, but for good reason.

Moving into Saturday the 5th, the morning is a bit messy with a light cross-on shore, but the afternoon cleans right back up. It's much the same story: 3ft from the SSW, 16 seconds, and clean cross-off wind. A solid, if not spectacular, continuation.

The quality takes a step up for Monday the 7th. The afternoon sees a 6ft SSW swell, with a 13-second period, and the cross-off wind is back. The combined energy is strong (1445), tipping this into experienced territory. This is the best on offer. The swell is getting a bit full, but the point break will handle it well, offering some powerful, clean lines for the guys who know what they're doing.

After that, the swell drops off. There's a few mornings and afternoons with clean, small waves in the 4ft to 4ft range through Wednesday the 9th, but it's nothing to write home about. The energy fades, and the wind stays clean.

From Thursday the 10th onward, it's a slow decline. The swell drops under 3ft, and the wind turns onshore or cross-onshore a fair bit. The 17th of September looks interesting with a very long period 22-second groundswell, but it's only 1ft. That's not enough to push through, even with a clean cross-off wind. The energy is low (342), so it's more of a long-range promise that doesn't deliver.

So, to wrap it up: The window is Friday the 4th through to Monday the 7th. Monday afternoon is the standout for experienced surfers. After that, it's a long stretch of small, poor-to-ordinary surf right through until the end of the 16-day window.
