Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Cove Cape May over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, let’s get into what’s happening at The Cove Cape May. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – this 16-day window is looking pretty flat, and the conditions are mostly a battle. The water is sitting at 77°F, which is a solid 5°F warmer than usual for this time of year, so that’s a real treat if you’re just wanting a paddle.
The first real chance to even think about a wave comes on Monday, July 13th. We’ve got a tiny 2ft swell from the ESE at 7 seconds, with a weak combined energy of just 56 – nothing to get excited about. The morning is clean with a cross-offshore breeze, which is the best we’ll see for a while, but it’s still just “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions.” It’s not a stand-out, just the best of a bad bunch.
From there, it’s a long slog of tiny, weak swells and messy, choppy winds. The water stays warm, but the surf is a total write-off until the weekend of July 18th. On Saturday, July 18th, we see a bump – a 4ft to 5ft short-period SSW swell rolling in. The energy jumps to 105-157 (moderate), but the wind is cross-onshore, making it choppy and poor. If you’re a kiter, the setup might look interesting, but for a paddle surfer, this is a hard pass.
The only other flicker of hope is on Monday, July 20th, with a clean 2ft SSE swell in the morning, but again, it’s weak and unremarkable. The rest of the forecast is a graveyard of tiny waves and onshore slop. The week of July 21st has some clean offshore winds on the 22nd, but the swell is just 1ft to 2ft, so it’s nearly flat. By the 23rd and 24th, we’re looking at a fresh onshore blow and a sloppy 4ft wave from the ENE.
Honestly, if you’re desperate for a surf, Monday July 13th morning is your only realistic shot, and even then, keep your expectations on the floor. This is a long, quiet run for the area.
