Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Cove Cape May over the next 16 days.
Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for The Cove Cape May.
Heads up, it’s a quiet start across the board. The first week or so is pretty much a write-off with barely a ripple and the water’s a touch warmer than normal for this time of year at 75°. It’s not until the very end of the forecast period that something starts to stir.
The only window that’s worth getting even a little bit excited about is around Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th of July. Swell starts showing its face properly on Thursday morning, with 5ft from the east and the energy is moderate (234). By the afternoon it bumps up to 6ft from the east, with strong energy in the water (311). That’s proper head-high stuff. The wind stays clean and cross-off, which is a major positive. This is the standout window for the whole 16 days. Friday holds on with 4ft from the east (179), still cross-off and clean.
The following weekend, the 25th and 26th of July, continues the theme. Saturday the 25th has 4ft from the SSE (463) and 3ft from the SE (322), with strong energy and clean cross-off conditions. Sunday the 26th morning drops to 2ft from the SE (107) with glassy wind. It’s surfable, but not the peak of the run.
For the entire forecast, this is really the only run. It’s not big enough to be expert-only—it’s solid intermediate territory at its best. The Cove is a point break, fairly consistent, and handles an east swell with the optimum direction from SE. This matches up nicely for Thursday and Friday. Just keep your head on a swivel because crowds are often around here.
So, the call is simple: wait for that Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th. That’s your best shot. The rest is a long gap of nothing, so don’t bother getting wet until then.
Rusty.
