Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, family. Rusty here, and I’ve been staring at the charts for our neck of the woods for the next couple of weeks, and I gotta be straight with you – it’s looking pretty flat and sad for a while.
We’ve got a real dry spell on our hands for the next few days. From now right through until about the middle of next week, there’s nothing at all worth paddling out for. We’re talking tiny scraps of swell, mostly under 1 ft, and the wind is just all wrong – onshore, cross-onshore, making a mess of things. You’d be better off cleaning the wax off your board than trying to catch anything out there.
The best we can see in this whole 16-day window is a brief, slightly less terrible moment on Tuesday morning, July 7th. At Stockton, the wind is forecast to go glassy. That’s the one big positive. We might see a tiny 2 ft from the SSE, but the swell period is a short 7 seconds, meaning no power behind it. It’ll be surfable, but “very ordinary” is the word on the street. Don’t expect much. The rest of that day and the days following are just more of the same poor surf with onshores. For a beach/jetty setup like Stockton, with the swell this tiny, even the glassy conditions won’t save it. It’s a real bummer.
There’s really nothing to highlight as a standout here. The water temperature is about 73°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least you won’t freeze if you do go for a splash, but there’s just no wave energy to work with. This looks more like a stretch for a kayak than a surfboard.
Keep your chin up, but don’t hold your breath. The forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a long wait.
Stay salty,
Rusty
