Table - best surf conditions forecast for Stockton over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s coming up for Stockton.
To be honest, mate, it’s a quiet start. The first few days are a bit of a write-off, with barely a ripple and onshore junk. We’ve got a long gap here with no real surf to speak of from the start of the period right through until the morning of the 20th of July. That’s over a week of flat, messy conditions. You’re better off staying home or doing a beach clean-up.
The best chance we see across the whole 16-day window is shaping up for the morning of Monday, 20th July. It’s not a classic, but it’s the pick of a poor bunch. We’ll see a small SSE swell around 3 ft with a period of 7 seconds – short period, so it’ll be a bit fat and quick to close out on a beach break like this. The combined energy is weak at 85, so don’t expect much push. The real winner here is the wind: a light NW cross-off breeze, keeping it clean. The water’s about average for the time of year.
The morning of Tuesday, 21st July is also worth a mention. The swell drops a little to 3 ft from the SSE, but the wind goes glass – dead calm. That’s a rare treat for Stockton. The energy is also weak at 80. It’ll be small and clean, perfect for a longboard or a beginner trying to get a few soft ones. Just know that it’s inconsistent, so you’ll be waiting for the sets.
Later in the week, around the 22nd and 23rd of July, the swell picks up a bit more size, with a S swell hitting 4 ft to 5 ft by the 23rd, and the energy climbs into the moderate range (182 to 212). But the wind turns cross-shore and cross-on, messing up the face. It’s surfable, but it’s not going to be pretty. The period stays short, so it’s lumpy and weak for the size.
Bottom line: if you’re keen, the 20th and 21st of July mornings are your only real windows. Everything else is flat or blown out.
Stay patient.
Rusty.
