Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, it’s Rusty. Alright, let’s be straight up – if you’re looking for a classic surf session over the next couple of weeks, you’re gonna be disappointed. There’s nothing on the cards that’ll get your heart racing. The whole outlook is a flat, clean, but utterly useless run of tiny dribble. From now until the end of the forecast period, there isn’t a single day where the surf is good enough to bother paddling out. The biggest bump we see is on Thursday the 8th of July, and even then it’s a pathetic 2 ft of swell with very weak energy (55) and a short period. The wind is offshore from the ENE that morning, so it’ll be clean, but the waves are just too small and weak to ride. Every other day is even smaller, often blowing onshore and choppy.
The break is Stockton, a beach and jetty setup that’s exposed to the south-east. Water temp is sitting at a warm 72°, a touch warmer than normal for this time of year. The swell energy figures are all two-digit numbers, with the highest being 68, which is pathetic. The period is almost always short and weak. There’s a half-decent cross-offshore window on Sunday the 11th of July morning, with swell just 2 ft and a period of 7 seconds – but again, it’s simply too small. For a few days, like Monday the 13th of July morning, you’ll get glassy conditions, but with only 1 ft of 7-second swell, you’d be better off having a coffee.
Honestly, this stretch is a total write-off for paddle surfing. With such weak swell and frequent onshore winds, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than anything with a paddle. Forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing to get excited about.
Rusty.
