Table - best surf conditions forecast for Stockton over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Look, I’ll level with you straight up – the next 16 days at Stockton are a proper struggle. There’s not a single standout session in the whole run, and a bunch of days where you’d be far better off doing something else. Water temps are sitting at a toasty 77°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least you won’t be freezing if you do go for a paddle.
We kick off on Wednesday the 8th of July with tiny 2ft swell out of the east, and a 6-second period – that’s weak, gutless energy (34). Morning looks clean with a cross-offshore breeze, but the waves are just too small and weak to bother with. Thursday the 9th is even worse – 1ft east swell, and onshore winds up to 19 mph with a risk of thunderstorms. A total write-off.
Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th offer a bit of calm, clean mornings with light cross-off breezes, but the swell drops to 1.0ft at best. The wave energy is pathetic (34 and 17). Sunday the 12th sees the swell nudge up to 2ft in the afternoon from the east, but it’s all short-period slop (6 seconds) with a messy cross-shore chop. Not worth the drive.
The whole first week is pretty much a bust. The most promising-looking day is Monday the 13th, with a clean 3ft east swell and a cross-off breeze in the morning, but the period is still a short 6 seconds – combined energy is just 78. It’s bumpy and weak.
We get a brief flicker of hope on Saturday the 18th, with a 4ft south swell and 5-second period, but it comes with 19 mph westerly winds and rain in the afternoon. That’s rough, lumpy, and ugly – more kite-surf territory than paddle surf.
Sunday the 19th of July finally brings something to talk about, but only just. The morning shows a 4ft south swell (7 seconds) with a clean, glassy north-easterly cross-off. The combined energy hits 106 (moderate), and it’s clean. This is the only real window in the whole outlook – a small, okay wave for beginners or longboarders. The wind is light and offshore, which keeps it tidy. Still, don’t expect anything special.
Monday the 20th through to Wednesday the 22nd offer small swell around 2ft to 3ft, mostly from the SSE. The best moment is Wednesday morning the 22nd, with a solid 12 mph north wind blowing offshore – that’ll clean it right up. The swell is 2ft with an 8-second period, and the energy is only 56. It’ll be small but clean for a morning session.
After that, the final days from the 23rd of July drop back to tiny 2ft swell with weak energy (42) and onshore tendencies. Nothing to get excited about.
So here’s the bottom line: Stockton is in a flat spell. The only half-decent chance you’ve got is Sunday the 19th in the morning – small but clean, with a 4ft south swell and offshore breeze. Keep it on the radar, but don’t hold your breath. The rest is a long, hard blank run.
Rusty.
