The Lowdown

Right, Rusty here again. Let's talk about Corpus Christi in proper units. The story hasn't changed – we’re in for a long, flat spell.

Water is sitting at 86°F, which is a touch warmer than usual for the season, but that’s the only highlight.

This is a bleak stretch. From the start of the period on the 10th all the way to the morning of the 19th of September, it’s a total loss. The wind is coming from the SSE and SE, a constant cross-onshore that’s making a mess of things. Swell heights barely get to 3 feet, but mostly they're under that, with short, weak periods and combined energy that never even hits three figures. Every session is called "poor surf conditions." Don't suit up.

Your one and only decent window is Saturday morning, the 19th. The wind goes completely calm out of the south at just 3 mph, turning it glassy. The swell is tiny – about 3 feet from the east-southeast, with a 6-second period, and the combined energy is a weak 53. The report says "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions." This is the best on offer, but it’s weak and marginal, and this spot is *inconsistent* anyway. You need to be realistic.

Sunday the 20th has another glassy morning, but the swell drops to under 2 feet and combined energy is 26. Then it’s flat as a pancake for days after, with swells down to 0.6 feet from the 21st onward.

There's a tiny bump on Thursday the 24th with a 3-foot swell from the east and 6-second period, giving us combined energy of 74, but the wind is cross-onshore and lumpy.

Friday the 25th of September offers one last glassy morning, with 3-foot waves from the east and the same low energy.

Look, there isn’t a single true standout in this entire 16-day run. The morning of the 19th is your only real chance, but it’s far from a guarantee. It’s a flat spell, plain and simple.

Rusty.
