Teacapan Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Teacapan over the next couple of weeks.

Right off the bat, I gotta be honest with you: it’s a pretty lean run. We’ve got a whole lot of days where the surf is just not happening – flat, messy, or blown out. The first proper chance to get wet doesn’t show up until Monday the 14th, and even then, it’s barely a whisper. From now until then, it’s a write-off.

So, the first crack at it is Monday morning the 14th. It’s a small SW swell, only about 2ft, with a solid 18 second period. That long period means it’s got some real push for its size, but it’s also a groundswell, and at a point and river break like Teacapan, that can actually be a good thing – it’ll focus the energy nicely. The combined energy is moderate at 211, and the wind is light from the SSW, making it cross-onshore. Conditions are marginal, and the score is low. You might get a couple, but don’t expect much. That morning is the only real thing on offer for days.

The energy builds a bit through the week. By Thursday the 17th morning, we’re seeing 3ft of SW swell with a shorter 14 second period, and the combined energy climbs up to a moderate 435. But again, the winds are onshore and the surf quality is tagged as poor. It’s not looking user-friendly.

We get a few more mornings that are tagged as “marginal” – like Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th – but the afternoons are all messy cross-onshore stuff.

Now, hold on. The one true standout in this whole 16-day window is shaping up for Friday the 25th. That’s over a week away, so treat it as a promising prospect, not a guarantee. But the forecast has a 2ft SW swell, a period of 13 seconds, and the combined energy is a moderate 224. The big kicker here is the wind: it’s glassy. Yes, you heard me – glassy. That’s a major positive. The only downside is it’s just the morning session; the afternoon looks like it’ll get a bit choppy. Given the whole run, this Friday morning is the best on offer. It won’t be huge, but for a clean little wave at Teacapan, it’s the one to pencil in.

Everything else after that is either poor, marginal, or completely flat with no recommendation. There is a final hint of something on Sunday the 27th with a 3ft SW swell and high combined energy of 501, but it’s got a risk of thunderstorms and the wind is onshore. It’s a long shot.

Summing it up: mostly a quiet period. Don’t bother paddling out until at least Monday the 14th, and even then, keep expectations low. Circle Friday the 25th morning on your calendar. That’s your window for a clean little session. Conditions are tough right now, but at Teacapan, it never stays flat for long – the long-range look is promising.
