Table - best surf conditions forecast for El Anclote over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get into it. Rusty here.
First up, we’re looking at El Anclote (Spain) on the morning of July 10th, but don’t get your hopes up just yet. We’ve got a tiny 2ft SSW groundswell with a long 15-second period, coming from the optimum direction for this spot. The combined energy is weak at 147. The water is sitting at 89°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year. The problem? Friday morning is a write-off with a cross-shore wind and poor surf conditions. You’re not missing a thing.
The first real chance to get wet comes Friday afternoon. The wind swings offshore from the NW with a light breeze, cleaning up that same 2ft SSW swell. The conditions are described as surfable but very ordinary. The energy is still weak (147). It’s small, but it’s clean.
Saturday and Sunday, July 11th and 12th, follow the same pattern: tiny swell around 1-2ft, clean conditions with offshore or cross-offshore winds in the afternoons. The energy drops into the double digits (124 down to 82). These are small, gutless waves for a longboard or a foiler, but at least the wind is your friend.
Then we hit a long, flat spell. From Monday, July 13th, right through to Wednesday, July 22nd, there’s nothing worth paddling out for. The swell hovers between 0.7ft and 2ft, and for most of that stretch, the wind is either onshore or cross-shore, leaving the surface a mess. It’s a solid 10-day stretch of poor surf. You can leave the boards in the car.
Finally, things get interesting on Thursday, July 23rd. The swell bumps up to a clean 4-4ft from the SW, with a moderate 13-second period. The combined energy jumps to a moderate 438-485. Thursday afternoon is the standout here, with a moderate offshore wind from the NNW cleaning the place up, and the forecast calling for “expect good surf conditions.” This is the best on offer in the whole outlook.
Friday, July 24th keeps the momentum going with similar 4-4ft SW swell and clean offshore winds. The energy holds in the 396-430 range. Good waves, solid conditions.
Then we wrap up the outlook with Saturday, July 25th. The swell holds at 4ft from the WSW, and here’s the kicker: Saturday morning is glassy. Zero wind. The combined energy is still moderate at 354. That’s a beautiful, clean morning session to close out the forecast.
Looking at the whole 16-day window, we have a long, flat gap from July 13th to July 22nd. The true standouts are Thursday afternoon, July 23rd, and Saturday morning, July 25th. The Saturday glass-off is the real gem. Keep an eye on the long-range for that, but as always, forecasts can change.
Remember, El Anclote is a reef break that is very consistent. With only a 4-4ft swell, it’s still fine for beginners, but it’s not the kind of size that will get the experts buzzing.
Rusty.
