Table - best surf conditions forecast for El Anclote over the next 16 days.

Alright, let’s break it down. Over the next 16 days, it’s a pretty quiet stretch at El Anclote. The swell is mostly small and the quality is ho-hum for long periods. There are a couple of sessions that are worth getting wet for, but not many.

Starting right off on Tuesday, July 7th – small but clean in the morning. A 0.5m (2ft) swell from the SW with a long 18-second period, and the wind is barely a whisper from the NE at 3 mph, cross-offshore. That’s glassy. The water is a warm 89°F, which is 5°F warmer than normal – completely unusual, so leave the rubber at home. The combined swell energy is moderate (240). It’s a gentle, easy wave for beginners, and that reef bottom cleans it up nicely.

Tuesday afternoon the wind picks up from the W at 9 mph, still cross-off, and the swell bumps to 0.7m (2ft) with the same long period. Energy climbs to 324 – a little more push, but still a cruiser session. This is your best early bet.

Wednesday morning, July 8th, gets messy with a 5 mph SE cross-on wind putting a little chop on the 0.7m (2ft) SSW swell. The period drops to 16 seconds. Afternoon cleans up with a light W cross-off, but it’s only 0.6m (2ft) – a longboard kind of day.

Thursday, July 9th, morning rain showers and a 9 mph ESE cross-on chop. Not pretty. But the afternoon is a real sleeper – the wind swings NW at 9 mph, clean offshore, same 0.6m (2ft) swell. Worth a look for a late session.

Friday and Saturday (July 10th-11th) stay clean but small: 0.5m to 0.6m (2-2ft), SSW swell, 15-second period. Light cross-off winds. Energy drops to weak-moderate (130-154). Surfable, but no fireworks.

Sunday, July 12th, through Wednesday, July 15th, the swell drops way down. We’re talking 0.3m to 0.4m (1-1ft) most of the time, with weak energy (83-97). Monday morning, July 13th, has glassy conditions and zero wind, but it’s only a 0.4m (1ft) ripple. Not much to work with.

The middle of the second week is a total washout. Thursday, July 16th, to Sunday, July 19th, the swell stays tiny (0.2m to 0.4m / 0.6-1ft), and the wind is cross-on, onshore, or mixed with thunderstorms and heavy rain. Combined energy often sits below 100 – weak. Kite surfers might be happy with the breeze, but paddle surfers get nothing.

Then, on Monday, July 20th, a pulse shows up. Morning has 0.6m (2ft) from the SW, 16-second period, light NE wind at 3 mph cross-off, and energy hits 258 (moderate). The afternoon holds at 0.6m (2ft) with a light NW breeze. This is the best window in the whole forecast – clean, consistent, and surfable for a beginner to intermediate surfer. Not big, but fun.

Tuesday, July 21st, and Wednesday, July 22nd, hold at 0.5-0.7m (2-2ft), but the wind turns onshore, cross, or brings thunderstorms and heavy rain. Period drops to 10-14 seconds, and the energy is moderate but wasted on messy conditions. Not worth it.

The takeaway: The real standout is Monday, July 20th – your best shot at clean, consistent surf with light winds. The Tuesday morning of July 7th is also a nice, glassy option for a gentle ride. Most of the rest is small, weak, or windblown. Beginners will enjoy the first few days and that Monday. Everyone else, keep your expectations low – it’s a quiet spell.
