Alright, Rusty here again, but this time in feet. Let's see what The South Jetty has cooking.
Honestly, this outlook is a real test of character. The next 16 days are mostly about waiting for the rare chance that everything lines up. The water is a warm 75°F, which is about 5°F above what’s usual for this time of year, so your wetsuit can stay thin.
From Friday the 3rd right through to Thursday the 9th, it’s a desert. Waist-high dribble or smaller, with weak energy (33 to 101) and short, weak periods. The wind is never your friend, mostly cross or onshore, making for a lumpy, bumpy mess. You’re better off doing something else.
Friday the 10th morning offers the first breath of life: a clean 2-foot wave from the south with a light cross-offshore breeze. It’s ridable, but ordinary. Then Saturday the 11th afternoon goes glassy with a similar 2-foot south-southeast swell – just enough for a longboard cruise.
The middle of the week, from the 12th to the 14th, the swell tries to build but the wind fights back. Monday the 13th morning is the only decent window there: a clean 3-foot wave from the east-southeast on a light offshore. That’s about it.
The one real standout comes on the 15th and 16th. Wednesday the 15th morning sees a clean 4-foot south-southeast swell with cross-offshore winds and moderate energy (224). That's a solid session. But the real gem is Thursday the 16th morning. You get glassy conditions with a clean 4-foot south-southeast swell, right in the jetty’s sweet spot, and solid energy (229). That morning is your only true "go-time" in this entire forecast. After that, the wind cranks onshore from the south on the 17th and 18th, blowing it out.
So, mark your calendar for the morning of Thursday the 16th. That’s the only standout in this run. Everything else is a long shot.
Rusty.
