Alright, this is Rusty, and I’m lookin’ at your local stretch here. Honestly, the next week and a half is one of those tough runs. We’ve got a long, quiet patch before any real surf shows up, so patience is the name of the game. The water temp is sittin’ about average for the time of year, nothing weird there.
The first recommendation we get is way down the line, not until Saturday, July 11th. From now until then, it’s a proper flat spell with no real surf to speak of – just tiny, weak dribble and mostly onshore or cross-shore winds making a mess of things. You’d be lucky to find a wave you can even stand up on.
Then, on the morning of Saturday, July 11th, we see the wind finally play ball. It goes offshore out of the WNW at 9 mph, which is a big change. The swell bumps up to 4 ft from the south, with a period of 8 seconds. The combined energy reads 265 (moderate energy), so there’s some push behind it. For that afternoon, the wind holds offshore but is lighter, and the waves clean right up. It’s not huge, but it’s the one standout in a long, quiet period. The South Jetty is an exposed beach/jetty setup, and with a south swell and clean offshore wind, it should offer some fun, rideable waves. Because the swell is only 4 ft, it’s in that friendly zone for intermediates. Crowds are possible at this spot, so keep an eye out.
After that little burst, it goes quiet again. The rest of the period into the second week shows the swell dropping right back, winds turning onshore or cross-shore, and the wave energy falling to almost nothing. Nothing else worth paddling out for.
So, bottom line: you’ve got a two-week forecast with one real bright spot on Saturday, July 11th. The rest is a waiting game. For a spot like this, a blank run isn’t all that unusual. Forecasts can change, but for now, circle that Saturday on the calendar.
Rusty.
