The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's break down what's cookin' at The South Jetty for the next couple of weeks.
Gotta be honest from the start, this stretch is lookin' pretty bleak. From Wednesday the 15th right through most of the run up to Sunday the 26th, we’re looking at a whole lot of tiny, weak, junk surf. Wave heights are mostly between 1ft and 3ft, with combined swell energy stuck in the teens or twenties. The winds are a mess—cross, cross-on, and onshore—so the surface is just chopped up and ugly.
The one glimmer of hope comes on Monday morning, July 20th. Winds go glassy from the ENE at 3 mph, dead calm. The swell is a tiny 3ft from the SSE at 8 seconds, with combined energy at 86. It's not gonna be pumping, but it'll be clean and ridable. That's probably your best bet in this whole forecast.
We get another small window late on Sunday the 26th of July. The afternoon shows a little bump to 3ft from the SSE, and combined energy finally hits 101. Winds are a clean cross-off from the WNW at 9 mph. It'll be clean, but still small.
The South Jetty is a beach/jetty setup, exposed to that SE swell, and it's for intermediate surfers. With waves this small, beginners could probably have a splash around, but there's no real juice. It can get crowded sometimes too, so don't think you'll have that glassy Monday all to yourself.
If you're desperate, pencil in the morning of Monday the 20th or the afternoon of Sunday the 26th. Bring a log and low expectations.
Rusty.
