Table - best surf conditions forecast for Nauset Light Beach over the next 16 days.
Right then, let’s talk about the surf around here. I’m not gonna lie to you, this 16-day window is a tough one. We’re looking at a real flat spell, with no decent surf on offer at all. The first recommendation doesn’t pop up until the morning of Thursday, 10th July, and even then, it’s a real struggle. The whole run is just a series of small, weak swells with poor surf conditions flagged for every single session. There’s a long gap of nothing worth mentioning from the 10th right through to the 22nd of July, with barely a ripple to get excited about.
The only break in the frame is Nauset Light Beach. It’s a sandbar setup, exposed to an easterly swell direction. The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing weird going on there.
For the first few days, it’s just tiny. On Thursday morning, 9th July, we’ve got a 2ft swell from the east, but the period is a weak 8 seconds and the combined energy is a meagre 46. The wind is a moderate offshore, but the waves are just too poor to bother with. Friday morning, 10th July, is even smaller at 1ft, and it’s the same story. Honestly, the only thing that might make you look twice is the glassy morning on Monday, 13th July, but with a 0.7ft swell and energy of just 9, you’d be floating more than surfing.
There’s a slight uptick right at the end of the run. The mornings of Wednesday, 22nd July, and Thursday, 23rd July, show a consistent 2ft swell from the southeast, with a combined energy creeping up to 39 and 45 respectively. The wind is cross-offshore and clean. It’s still not big, but it’s the best we’ve got. The swell direction is from the southeast, which is a bit off the optimum east, but with those light winds, it might be worth a paddle for the longboard or a foiling session. The crowds are listed as “sometimes,” so you might have some company, but it won’t be a zoo.
Look, for a spot like this, a blank run isn’t abnormal. It’s a tough stretch, but forecasts can change. For now, the only thing that’s even close to a highlight is the end of the third week, but even then, keep your expectations low.
Rusty.
