Table - best surf conditions forecast for Nauset Light Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get into it. I’m looking at the next 16 days, and honestly, boss, it’s a tough stretch. The whole 16-day window is a bit of a flat spell for Nauset Light Beach. There’s no real standout surf to get excited about, and most days are just offering small, weak waves with tricky winds. We’ve got a long gap right at the start too – nothing really worth paddling out for from July 11th all the way through to around July 19th.
The first hint of something that might get your attention comes on July 19th, Sunday morning. We’re looking at a bit of a bump from the south at 3 ft, but it’s coming in at a short period of 6 seconds, so it’ll be weak and a bit messy. The combined energy of all swells is only 47 (low energy), and it’s howling from the SSE at 19 mph, putting the wind right across the waves. It’s not going to be clean. That afternoon calms down with a light offshore from the WSW at 9 mph, but the swell drops to 1 ft. It’s clean, but gutless.
The next little blip is on July 20th, Monday afternoon. The swell picks up a bit to 3 ft from the SSE, but it’s a short-period 7 seconds and the wind is a fresh cross-onshore from the NNE at 19 mph. That’s going to be lumpy and choppy. The combined energy is 96, so still just weak.
We get a tiny bit more life on July 21st, Tuesday morning. The swell sits around 2 ft from the SE, but the period stretches to 10 seconds, which is a bit better. The combined energy ticks up to 101 (moderate), but the wind is a gentle cross-onshore from the NE at 9 mph, so it’ll be a bit bumpy. It’s the most interesting option in the whole run, which tells you how quiet it is.
After that, it’s back to small, weak, and mostly wind-affected. The water temp is sitting at 65°, which is bang on average for the time of year, so no need to worry about a thick wetsuit just yet.
For a sandy beach break like Nauset Light, it’s a real waiting game. The forecast can change, and it tends not to stay this quiet for long, but right now, July 21st morning is your best, and only, real shot at a session. It’s not a standout, just the least bad of the bunch.
Rusty.
