The Lowdown
Alright, let’s get into it.
Honestly, looking at the next 16 days for Egypt Beach, it’s a pretty quiet stretch. We’re talking about very small surf for the whole run, with a few windows where things might just become rideable for a beginner. Nothing epic here, so if you’re after a proper wave, you might want to sit this one out.
The first recommendation pops up on Sunday the 19th of July. Up until then, from Wednesday the 15th through Saturday the 18th, the swell is tiny — just 0.3ft — and the energy is weak (4–10). Basically, it’s a flat spell. No point paddling out.
Sunday the 19th brings a bit of a pulse. We’ve got a 3ft swell from the east-northeast, but the period is short at 5 seconds, so it’s windswell, not groundswell. The combined energy climbs to 37 (moderate) in the morning. Winds are light cross-onshore from the NE in the morning, then going onshore from the east in the afternoon. It’s not clean, but for a total beginner, there might be a few small, crumbly waves. Crowds are possible here.
Monday the 20th drops back to 2ft from the east, with a 5-second period and moderate energy (23). Winds are cross-onshore from the SE, turning cross-shore from the south later. Choppy conditions. Not great.
Tuesday the 21st is the best-looking day of the whole outlook. Morning shows 2ft from the south-southeast, still short period (5 seconds) but with moderate energy (29). The wind is light offshore from the WSW, so it’ll be clean. This is the standout: Egypt Beach with offshore wind and a little bump. It’s not big, but for a beginner, it’s the most fun you’ll get. The water temperature is about average for this time of year.
After that, from Wednesday the 22nd through to the end of the month, it’s mostly 0.7ft–1ft swell, with short periods, and weak energy (6–26). The winds are often onshore or cross, so it’s choppy or just flat. Nothing worth getting excited about.
The last week is a long gap of small, poor surf. The 28th and 29th have some tiny 1ft–1.0ft swell with offshore or cross-off winds, but it’s just too small to bother.
Best bet: Tuesday the 21st of July, early morning. That offshore WSW breeze and the 2ft bump will give you the cleanest little waves. It’s a beginner-friendly day, but don’t expect anything overhead.
Stay patient, folks.
