The Lowdown
Alright, grab a coffee and listen up. It’s Rusty here, and I’ve gotta be straight with you – this 16-day stretch for Egypt Beach is a tough one. We’ve got a serious lack of surf on offer, so don’t be in a rush to wax up your board.
The entire outlook is pretty much a flat spell. Right from the start on Friday the 21st of August, we're looking at tiny, choppy waves with weak energy, around 29. It’s a write-off. That sets the tone. We’ve got a long gap of several days where there are no recommendations at all. The wind is mostly cross or onshore, and the swell is just too small to do anything with.
There is a tiny flicker of hope on Monday the 24th of August. The morning shows a clean little wave, just 0.7 ft from the ESE, with a very long period of 12 seconds and a glassy, cross-offshore breeze. The combined energy is still weak (36), but the conditions are clean. That afternoon, the wind goes offshore from the WNW and it stays clean, but again the swell is tiny at 1 ft with a short period of 6 seconds. It’s not worth paddling out unless you’re desperate for a saltwater fix.
Then it’s back into a long, flat run. There are a few glassy mornings, like Wednesday the 26th of August with 0.7 ft and glassy conditions, but the energy is just 8 – barely a ripple. Another one on Saturday the 29th of August morning with 1.0 ft and glassy conditions, energy at 19. These are just lake conditions, not surf.
The only other thing that looks remotely interesting is right at the end of the outlook, on Friday the 4th of September and Saturday the 5th. We see a small bump in swell size, around 3 ft on Friday afternoon from the SE, with clean, cross-offshore winds. Energy climbs to 61 – still weak, but the clean conditions are a major positive. Saturday the 5th of September morning has a similar setup, 2 ft from the E, clean and offshore. The swell direction from the SE isn’t the optimum NE for Egypt Beach, but it’s the best we’ve got.
Honestly, for a beginner-friendly, consistent beach break, this is a blank run. It’s one of those times where the ocean just isn’t cooperating. Keep an eye on the charts, because it tends not to stay this poor for long.
