Table - best surf conditions forecast for Guaratuba over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Guaratuba. It's a classic point break setup, exposed to the south, and it's been pretty consistent lately, which is good news for a beginner-friendly wave.
We're looking at a pretty quiet stretch overall. The next few days are gonna be a bit of a grind with tiny, weak swells. The combined energy is mostly in the 40s and 50s (weak), so don't expect much push. The water temp is sitting at a comfortable 66°, which is right about average for this time of year.
Thursday morning and Friday morning are glassy, but we're talking about waves only 1 to 2 ft from the ESE with a short 10-second period. It's surfable, but honestly, very ordinary. You'll be doing more sitting than riding.
The first real glimmer of hope comes on Saturday, July 11th for the morning session. It's not huge, but things start to look up. We've got a 3 ft swell from the ESE, and the period bumps up to a nice 13 seconds, which is a proper groundswell. The wind will be a light cross-offshore from the north, and the combined energy is at a moderate 200. It's going to be clean, with some decent shape for a point like Guaratuba. This is by far the standout of the first week. Sunday and Monday see the swell size bump up a touch, but the wind turns onshore or cross-onshore, messing up the surface. Not worth getting excited about.
There’s a bit of a lull mid-week, with glassy mornings of 2 to 2 ft waves, but the period drops right back to 8 or 9 seconds, making it weak and weak. That pattern keeps rolling through the second week from the 16th all the way to the 24th. There's a lot of glassy mornings with tiny, short-period E swells. The energy sits well under 100 for most of that. Not a lot of power.
The only other day that might get your attention is way out there on Friday, July 24th in the morning. The swell finally pushes to 3 ft from the SE, but it's a short-period 8 seconds, and the wind is a cross-onshore from the S at 9 mph. The combined energy climbs to 197 (moderate), so there's some juice, but the conditions will be choppy. It's a promise of something better, but still a week and a half away, and I wouldn't lock it in just yet.
The best of the bunch is clearly that Saturday morning on the 11th. For the rest of the run, it's really a waiting game, and you'll be relying on those super clean, glassy windows to make the most of what little wave there is.
Stay patient,
Rusty
