Table - best surf conditions forecast for Barra do Sul over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on offer for the region over the next couple of weeks.
We’ve got a bit of a slow start, but don’t write it off just yet. The first proper surf window kicks off on Monday the 13th of July and runs through to Wednesday the 16th. After that, there’s a lull, and then things get interesting again around the 25th of July.
The standout session in the whole outlook is hands down Wednesday the 15th of July. Barra do Sul will be the spot to be. We’re looking at a clean 4ft ESE swell, with a period of 10 seconds, wrapping in with moderate energy. And the wind? Glassy. Dead flat. Absolutely no wind to mess it up. That’s a rare treat. The swell is pushing a combined energy of 368, which is solid, and the conditions are going to be perfect for a long, clean session. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
Monday the 13th kicks off with a 3ft SE swell, cross-off wind, and a combined energy of 207. It’s surfable, and the morning will be cleaner than the afternoon. Tuesday the 14th is a step up, with a 4ft SE swell in the morning, a bit more energy at 227, and the same light cross-off breeze. Thursday the 16th morning is also tidy, with a 3ft ESE swell, clean offshore wind, and a solid 255 energy reading.
Now, after the 16th, we hit a dry spell. From Friday the 17th right through to the 24th of July, the surf is ordinary. We get some small, weak, and choppy swells, mostly onshore or cross-on winds, and the energy drops off a cliff. The 25th of July morning shows a little glimmer of hope with a glassy 3ft SE swell, but energy is weak at 143. It’s a maybe, not a must-do.
Then, on the 26th of July, the swell jumps. We’re talking a 4ft SE swell with a very long period of 15 seconds, and a combined energy of 581. That’s a lot of power. But the wind is a moderate cross-shore, and the conditions are marginal. This is a long period groundswell, which means it’s going to be more suitable for a point or reef break than a beach break. It’s a promising call for the long-range, but don’t book the day off just yet.
So, keep your eyes on Wednesday the 15th of July. That’s the one. Barra do Sul, glassy, clean, and fun. The rest of the window is a mix of average and questionable.
Rusty.
