Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Right, let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks at Praia de Ubatuba. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, but I’ll steer you towards the best windows.
The forecast starts with a pretty flat spell. Monday and Tuesday are looking very ordinary with small, weak swell and a bit of cross-off or cross-on wind making things messy. The combined wave energy is low, around 157 and 137, so not much to get excited about. You’ll be waiting for a better day.
The first real glimmer comes on Wednesday morning, July 8th. It’s glassy, with a light WSW wind, and the swell is a clean 2ft from the ESE. The energy is still low at 122, but those conditions will be smooth. It’s not a standout, but a good chance for a beginner to get a few small, clean ones.
The best of the early window is Saturday morning, July 11th. Glassy conditions, a light SSW breeze, and the swell picks up to 3ft from the ESE with a nice 13-second period. The energy is moderate at 249, and it’s labelled as good surf. This is your best bet for the first week – clean, long-period energy that should offer some fun shape.
The second week starts quiet, with a few poor days. Then we get a couple of interesting ones. Sunday morning, July 19th looks promising with glassy conditions and a 5ft swell from the east, though the period is a short 8 seconds. The energy is moderate at 435, so there’s some push there. Monday morning, July 20th is even better, still glassy, with a 4ft swell from the east and a longer 10-second period. The energy is up to 491, and it’s described as good surf. These are the two standouts of the second week, but being that far out, treat them as promising but not set in stone.
The water temperature is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there.
Overall, the best on offer is Saturday morning, July 11th for the first week, and Monday morning, July 20th for the second week. Crowds are noted as sometimes at Praia de Ubatuba, so you might have some company, but it’s a consistent beginner-friendly spot.
