Laje do Jacques Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, grab your board and let’s talk. This Laje do Jacques stretch is looking like a waiting game for the next couple of weeks. We got some pulses of energy, but it’s going to be a mix of small, clean windows and periods where the wind just ruins the party. The water is sitting at a pretty normal 66.7° for this time of year, not much of a temperature anomaly, so it’s just your standard summer swimming pool.

The long-range stuff is where the real interest lies. We’ve got a bit of a dry spell before things get interesting. The early part of the week is small, with weak energy, think 60-100 range for the combined swell energy. There's a small window Tuesday morning (August 4th) with a touch of SE groundswell at 1.3ft and a 12-second period. It's glassy, so it'll be clean, but it's barely breaking. Not worth getting too excited about. The same goes for the rest of the week – a little bump here and there, but the cross-onshore wind and small, short-period swell will keep things pretty average. We're looking at consistent small waves in the 2.3-3.3ft range but nothing with any push. The wind is mostly light, but it's coming from the wrong directions, just messing with the surface. It’s not flat, but it’s far from good.

The first real standout in the whole stretch is the morning of Saturday, August 8th. The energy jumps way up to 351 with a serious SE groundswell at a 16-second period. That's some proper long-period juice, and with the glassy conditions, it’s going to turn this reef on. This is a classic case of the longer period swell being best for a setup like this – a reef is going to hold that energy much better than a beach break. The swell is only 2ft, but with that period, it will have real shape and power on the takeoff. The wind is dead calm, too. This is your window. It’s for advanced surfers only, and it’s inconsistent, but when it does break, it will be worth the wait.

After that, it seems like we’re back into the doldrums. Energy drops, period drops, and the wind goes cross-onshore again. There’s a bit of a positive bump Friday morning, August 14th, with energy at 264 and a SE swell again, and it’s glassy. It’s promising, but the swell height is still just around that 3.6ft mark. The combination of that energy and clean conditions will make it better than the rest, but it won't be as good as that Saturday morning.

Just remember, this spot is an inconsistent one. The real magic only happens when a long-period SE groundswell lines up with no wind, like it does on August 8th. That’s the one to circle on the calendar. The rest is just small and ordinary. The second week looks less substantial overall, with the energy leveling out, but that Friday morning (Aug 14) has a chance to be a sneaky good one if the forecast holds.
