Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the surf for Lambe Lambe over the next couple of weeks.
It’s a quiet start and we’ll have to wait until the afternoon of Friday the 3rd of July for anything to ride. This spot is a point break that rarely breaks, so when it does, you gotta pay attention. The water is sitting at 62°F, which is much colder than normal for this time of year; bring the thick rubber.
The best bet on the whole forecast is the Friday afternoon, 3rd of July. We’ve got a solid 6ft south swell wrapping in with a 10-second period. The combined energy is strong at 819, and with a light cross-offshore breeze from the SSE, it’s gonna be clean. This is probably the biggest and best of the run, but it’s also going to be absolutely packed—crowds are always a problem here, but for this quality, expect a battle for waves. This one’s for the experienced crew.
Saturday the 4th keeps things interesting. The morning drops to 4ft from the south with clean conditions, but the real session looks to be Saturday afternoon—the swell bumps back up to 6ft from the south, period stretches to 12 seconds, and the energy hits 936. Winds stay light and cross-off. That afternoon window is another standout, with very good conditions.
Sunday morning, 5th of July is a darker horse. Swell drops to 5ft from the SSE with an 11-second period and glassy conditions. This is the most perfect window for clean, rippable waves. The problem comes Sunday afternoon when the wind swings onshore from the north and kills it, and we then enter a flat spell.
From Monday the 6th right through Thursday the 9th of July, it’s mostly small and onshore—waves in the 2ft to 3ft range and no real quality. Don’t bother.
Friday the 10th of July offers a little blip: tiny 3ft swell but with glassy conditions in the afternoon. It’s ordinary, but if you’re desperate and the wind stays off, you could get a few ankle-biters.
Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th are messy, with onshore winds and rain. Swell sits around 4ft to 4ft, but the wind ruins any chance of it being fun. Skip it.
Monday the 13th of July brings a return of hope. The morning session is glassy with 5ft of SSE swell at 12 seconds and strong energy (555). This is clean and surfable for the intermediate surfer. The afternoon stays clean with a cross-off breeze. This is probably your second-best window for the whole period.
Tuesday the 14th starts well with a glassy 4ft south-east swell, but the afternoon gets blown out by a strong north-northeast wind. Get on it early if you go.
From Wednesday the 15th through Thursday the 16th, it’s small—between 2ft and 3ft—and mostly ordinary, though the afternoon of the 16th has a moderate offshore wind from the south that will at least keep the surface clean on tiny waves.
Now, Friday the 17th of July is a weird one. Morning shows a tiny 2ft swell but with a very long period of 17 seconds and glassy conditions. This is a proper groundswell, and on a point break like Lambe Lambe, that long period will create some beautiful, lined-up waves—even if the height is small. The energy is moderate at 440. This is a sleeper session for the patient surfer. The afternoon jumps to 5ft but from the ENE with a short period and onshore wind—messy and not worth it.
Saturday the 18th is dead, with onshore winds and poor conditions.
So, to sum it up: hit Friday afternoon, 3rd of July for the best swell and good winds (but expect crowds), and Monday the 13th of July morning for clean, glassy fun. Friday the 17th morning is a wildcard for the connoisseur.
Rusty.
