Table - best surf conditions forecast for Pipeline over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, let's have a look at what’s on the table for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough stretch. The first week is looking pretty grim. From today, Tuesday the 7th, right through to Monday the 13th, the surf is just flat-out poor. We’ve got persistent cross-off winds out of the ENE at a steady 19 mph and the swell is tiny. It’s a real bummer. The water temperature is sitting at a warm 79°, which is about average for this time of year, so at least a dip won't be a shock, but there's just no juice in the ocean for a proper surf. The combined swell energy is weak, barely scraping past 400 (403) at its best on the Sunday, but with those winds and small swell, it’s just not worth getting wet. There’s a big gap of no-go days here.
We finally see a tiny glimmer of life around Tuesday the 14th. The morning shows a marginal forecast at Pipeline (Oʻahu). We’re looking at a small 3 ft swell from the SSW with a period of 14 seconds. That’s a long-period groundswell, which at a heavy reef like Pipeline can mean long waits between sets, and it might stand up a bit. The combined energy climbs to 562 (moderate), which is better. The wind is a cross-off from the E at 16 mph – not ideal grooming conditions, but it keeps things from being completely blown out. Expect crowds here often, as usual, and this spot is for advanced surfers only. It’s the best of a bad bunch, but it’s still a tough call.
The rest of the week into the weekend stays poor. Wednesday the 15th morning has another marginal window with that same small 2 ft SSW groundswell and a bit more energy (536), but again, it’s a cross-off wind. After that, it’s back to small, weak, and poor conditions all the way through to the 22nd. The combined energy drops right off, sometimes below 100, and anything over 8 ft is a no-show for the whole period.
Honestly, the standout, if you can even call it that, is the Tuesday the 14th morning at Pipeline. It’s the only time the score even hints at being rideable. But don’t kid yourself – this is a week of watching and waiting, not charging.
Rusty.
