We’ve got a bit of a mixed bag over the next 16 days at Majors Bay – a pretty consistent beach and point set-up that likes a south swell. It’s not pumping all the time, but there are some real gems in there if you’re patient. The water temp feels about average for this time of year.

Straight up, this Sunday the 26th is a real treat. We’re looking at clean, glassy conditions with a nice SSW groundswell, 3ft, and a period of 16 seconds. That long period will wrap around the point and give you some proper lines. Combined energy of all swells is in the moderate range (469), and with the wind dead calm or a glassy 3 mph from the east, it’s going to be smooth and clean. This is the standout – absolutely the best on offer.

Monday the 27th keeps things tidy. The swell drops a touch to 2ft from the SSW, still with a 15-second period, and the wind is offshore or glassy again. Quality waves, just a little smaller. It’s still a very good session for a longboard or a funshape.

Tuesday the 28th sees the swell shift more to the S and drop to 2ft, with period dropping to 13-14 seconds. Morning is glassy, but afternoon the NE wind picks up to a light offshore breeze, keeping it clean. The energy drops (148-207), but it’s still surfable and fun.

Wednesday the 29th is okay, with the swell holding at 2ft from the S. Morning has a cross-off breeze, but the afternoon turns lighter offshore from the NNE. Not a blockbuster, but definitely rideable with clean faces.

Then things get a bit ordinary. Thursday the 30th has a cross-shore wind and the quality drops. Friday the 31st brings a jump in size (6ft to 7ft) from the east, but the period is a short 7 seconds. That’s a windswell – bumpy, not much shape. Combined energy jumps up (581-677) but it won’t be pretty. Conditions are marginal.

The first of August is a write-off – tiny 1ft swell and strong onshore winds. Save your energy.

Now, here’s the next real highlight. Sunday the 2nd of August pumps up to 7ft from the east, and while the period is still short (8 seconds), the wind goes glassy in the morning and offshore in the afternoon. Combined energy spikes to 645. For a beach and point break, 7ft is getting into expert territory – powerful, punchy, and a bit much for beginners. But for the crew who know what they’re doing, this is excellent.

After that, things fade again. The 3rd through the 6th of August are mostly small or weak, though the 4th and 5th have some moderate energy (483-510) with a bit of a clean window. The 7th and 8th see a return of solid east swell (5ft to 6ft) with short period, but the wind is workable – a bit of a chop but still rideable.

The 9th of August looks promising again: 6ft from the east, 8-second period, but with a lighter breeze and some chance of a storm pushing through. Combined energy hits 709, so there’s plenty of push. It’s a bit of a gamble with the weather, but worth a look.

The 10th of August finishes the window with a smaller 3ft SSW swell, 14 seconds, and light cross-off winds – a clean, cruisy session to wind things down.

To sum it up: this Sunday the 26th is your best bet for clean, classic lines. The 2nd of August is the big wave option for experts. Everything else is a pick-and-choose, and there’s a big gap of junk from the 30th through the 1st. Keep an eye on the forecasts, because this spot turns on quick.
