Alright, Rusty here again, giving you the same outlook but in feet and Fahrenheit for you imperial folks.
We’re in for a slow start at Polihale. From Friday the 3rd through Monday the 6th, it’s flat and boring. There’s a tiny NW swell, maybe 1-2 feet at best, with some light cross-off breezes. The combined energy is just a dribble (41-126), and the reports aren't calling for much. You’ll find a few surfable waves on Saturday morning, but it’s nothing to write home about. Save your energy.
Tuesday the 7th brings a pulse of short-period NE swell, 4 feet, with a period of only 8 seconds and moderate energy (203). The morning looks clean with light E/NE winds. It’s rideable, but that short period means it’ll be a bit weak and choppy.
After that, it’s another quiet stretch until Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th, where a small, longer-period WNW swell tries to get going. We’re talking about 2-2 feet at 13-14 seconds, with low to moderate energy (61-113). Just ordinary.
Now, the real action starts Saturday the 11th. Saturday afternoon, a long-period SW groundswell hits 2 feet with an 18-second period, and the energy jumps to 338. Clean with light winds. Sunday the 12th brings a punchier 5 feet NE swell at 7 seconds, strong energy (368-374). Not bad for a beach break.
But the standout window is clearly from Monday the 13th through Wednesday the 15th. Monday morning we have 4 feet of NE windswell with glassy, light E winds. Then Monday afternoon, a solid 3-foot W groundswell arrives with a 17-second period and monster energy of 601. Tuesday the 14th is a dream: 3-foot W swell, 16-second period, glassy conditions all day with energies of 702 and 624. That’s clean as a whistle. Wednesday the 15th keeps it going: 3-foot W swell at 15-16 seconds, glassy in the afternoon, clean cross-off in the morning, energy still high (477-586). Polihale loves a NW swell, and this matches perfectly. Crowds can be there sometimes, but the quality is worth the company.
Moving into the second week, things hold up but mellow out. Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th have 2-3 feet of W groundswell with 14-15 second periods and good energy (239-347). Saturday the 18th shifts to a 3-4 feet NNE swell at 8 seconds, clean but more ordinary with moderate energy (138-199).
Water temp is around 78°F, right about average for the time of year. The big run from the 13th to the 15th is your target. It’s a week out, so stay tuned, but the signs are real promising. Clean, long-period, perfect direction.
