Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s run through what’s coming up in the next couple weeks.
Starting off on Sunday, 5 July, we’ve got tiny but clean waves at Lahaina Breakwall/Harbour (Maui). Swell is from the SSW, only about 1 to 2 ft, with a real long period of 15 to 18 seconds. Offshore winds from the ENE to NE keep the surface glassy. Energy’s moderate (195–224 range), but the size is too small to get excited about.
Monday is much the same: 2 ft SSW swell, period dropping to 15–16 seconds, offshore breeze. Still ordinary. Tuesday holds at around 2 ft SSW. Then Wednesday and Thursday the swell fades to 1 ft or less, energy drops under 100 (weak). Hardly worth paddling out.
Friday morning, 10 July, we get a 1 ft pulse from the west, 13-second period, light offshore wind. Energy is only 76 (weak), so barely rideable. The afternoon brings rain and the swell goes back to tiny SSW.
Saturday, 11 July, sees a 1 ft SW swell with an 18-second period and moderate energy (131–156). Winds stay offshore, so it’s clean but knee-high.
From Sunday to Tuesday, 12–14 July, the swell sits between 2 and 2 ft from the SW and WNW, periods 15–16 seconds, with gentle offshore breezes. Tuesday morning shows the best energy of that run at 264 (moderate) and clean conditions—still small but workable.
The standout is Wednesday morning, 15 July. We’ve got 2 ft of WNW swell, 16-second period, combined energy hitting 319 (moderate), and light offshore wind from the ENE at about 6 mph. The forecast says “expect good surf conditions,” and this is the best session of the window. The reef will produce clean little peelers. The direction matches up well with the optimum WSW. Crowds are only sometimes an issue, so you might have a few friends out. This is the one to circle.
After that, from Thursday, 16 July through Monday, 20 July, it fades back to 1 ft to 2 ft, periods shorten to 13–15 seconds, and energy drops near 100 or below. Winds stay light to gentle offshore, but the swell just isn’t there.
No water temp data in the file, so I can’t comment on that.
Rusty out.
