Table - best surf conditions forecast for Lahaina Breakwall/Harbour over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s talk surf for the next couple of weeks. The first rideable waves show up Friday, July 10th, but it’s a slow start. The swell is tiny and the conditions are nothing special. Things do improve, and the best bet is Wednesday, July 15th and Thursday, July 16th at Lahaina Breakwall/Harbour. That’s the window to aim for.
Water temp is about what you’d expect for this time of year, nothing out of the ordinary.
So, from Friday the 10th through the weekend of the 12th, we’ve got waves around 1 ft to 2 ft. The combined energy is weak, mostly in the 70s to 160 range. Winds are offshore but moderate, so it’s clean but not worth rushing out for. The period is long, over 13 seconds, so the waves have some shape even if they’re small. Not really a go, unless you’re just wanting to get wet.
Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th see the swell nudge up to 2 ft, with combined energy climbing into the 180s and 260s. The period stays long, between 14 and 16 seconds. Winds stay offshore, light to gentle. Still, it’s not turning any heads.
Then we hit the standout: Wednesday, July 15th. The morning is clear with a light offshore from the NE at 6 mph. The swell is 2 ft from the WNW with a 15-second period. Combined energy hits 313, which is moderate energy and the best we’ll see. The conditions are clean and the surf is actually surfable. It’s not big, but for this spot, this is the call. The afternoon stays clean with a cross-off wind and swell from the W at 2 ft. This is the pick of the fortnight.
Thursday the 16th holds similar small but rideable swell, around 2 ft from the W with a 14-second period, but the wind goes cross-off. Still clean, but not as glassy as Wednesday morning.
From Friday the 17th onward, it dribbles away. Swell drops back to 1 ft to 2 ft, periods shorten a bit, and the combined energy slides into the low 100s and 60s. Winds stay offshore, but the wave quality fades. By Sunday the 19th and into the next week, there are long gaps with only 1 ft to 1 ft of swell and poor surf conditions. From the 19th to the 25th, there’s a stretch of days where it’s mostly tiny and unrideable, with combined energy often under 100. There’s a tiny blip on Friday the 24th with 1 ft swell and an 18-second period, but it’s only just surfable.
So the bottom line: get in the water on Wednesday, July 15th morning for the best of it. It’s small, it’s clean, and it’s the one good day we’ve got. The rest is a whole lot of waiting.
