The Lowdown
Rusty here again, but with the numbers you’re used to on this side of the pond.
Water temp is 80°F, about normal for now. The action starts Saturday August 22nd with 2 ft from the southwest, a light offshore breeze, energy in the moderate range. Just enough to get wet.
Sunday the 23rd morning is similar – 2 ft from the SSW, offshore, but the afternoon turns ugly with rain and a cross-offshore breeze at 12 mph. Skip it.
Monday the 24th goes glassy. Calm wind, 2 ft from the SSW, energy building. That’s clean and small, perfect for a cruiser.
Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th offer 2 ft to 2 ft with offshore breezes, energy climbing to 493 by Wednesday afternoon. That’s a clean groundswell window.
The big moment is Thursday August 27th morning. Clear, 3 ft from the SSW, 16-second period, energy at 843. That’s the most energy in the whole forecast. Light wind, clean conditions. Kihei Cove gets crowded often, so plan for it.
Friday the 28th holds at 2 ft with offshore wind, still decent. Then it slows down. Saturday the 29th to Monday the 31st drops to 1 ft to 2 ft, energy sinks to as low as 57. A few flat days.
Tuesday September 1st brings it back. Morning shows 3 ft, 19 seconds, 532 energy. The afternoon is the standout: 3 ft from the south, 18 seconds, 713 energy, offshore breeze. That’s a proper pulse.
Wednesday the 2nd is onshore in the morning but turns glassy in the afternoon with 3 ft. Thursday the 3rd starts glassy with 2 ft. Saturday the 5th offers 2 ft from the SSW, 19-second period, offshore wind, energy 309. A solid call for the weekend.
Best bets: Thursday August 27th morning and Tuesday September 1st afternoon. Bigger energy, clean wind, good direction. Get after it.
Rusty.
