The Lowdown
Alright, let's get into it. This is a real special run we've got lined up. The swell's been steady, and the winds are playing ball more often than not. The water temp is sitting right around 79°, which is bang on average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
First up, Kihei Cove is the main event and honestly, the only real game in town for this whole stretch. It's a beginner-friendly reef break that's very consistent, though you can expect crowds often. It's fairly exposed to the swell, and the magic direction is out of the WSW.
We kick off Monday, July 13, with a solid start. Morning brings a clean 2ft SW swell with a long period of 15 seconds, pushed by a gentle cross-offshore breeze. That long period means real groundswell energy, giving you proper shape and longer lulls between sets. Combined energy is moderate at 279. The afternoon cleans up even more as it goes offshore, staying at 2ft and 15 seconds.
Tuesday, July 14, is where it gets special. The morning is absolutely glassy, with a 2ft SW swell at 14 seconds. That's a standout moment—dead calm, clean lines, and the energy bumps up to 333. Tuesday afternoon switches to a slight WNW pulse at 2ft, but with a 16-second period, making for some real tidy waves under offshore conditions.
Wednesday the 15th is a mixed bag. The morning has an onshore wind, so we skip that, but the afternoon turns glassy again with a 2ft W swell at 15 seconds and strong energy at 435. Thursday the 16th keeps that glassy feel going all day with 2ft swell from the W and SSW, both with strong energy readings.
Friday the 17th morning stays glassy with 2ft, but the afternoon gets a bit ordinary. Saturday the 18th morning is glassy again with 2ft, and the afternoon stays clean even with a breeze.
Now, for the real highlight. Skip forward to Monday, July 20. The morning has a 2ft S swell at 16 seconds with offshore wind and energy of 384. But the afternoon is the one to circle: a 3ft S swell at 15 seconds, gentle offshore breeze, and energy up to 464. That's the biggest, cleanest surf of the whole forecast period right there.
Tuesday, July 21, starts even better with a dead calm morning and the same 3ft S swell at 14 seconds. That is pure glass. The afternoon gets a little messy with cross-offshore wind, so morning is the pick.
The quality holds through the end of the month. Wednesday the 22nd, Thursday the 23rd with a super long 21-second period swell, and Friday the 24th all offer clean, glassy mornings or gentle offshore afternoons. The swell hangs around 2ft to 3ft, and the energy stays moderate to strong throughout.
The last few days, July 26 to July 28, start to taper off. The swell drops to 2ft-2ft, periods shorten, and energy fades to weak. Still surfable, but it loses that spark.
So, the standout sessions: Tuesday, July 14 morning for absolute glass and clean lines, and Monday, July 20 afternoon for the biggest swell with a gentle offshore breeze. Get on it.
