The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty coming to you live from the dashboard. Let’s have a look at the next couple of weeks for Kihei Cove.
It’s a pretty mellow story for this stretch. We’re looking at a long run of small, clean surf, but very little in the way of size or power to get excited about. The energy is weak across the board, with combined swell energy mostly sitting in the low hundreds (maxing around 595). Don’t expect any barrels or heavy drops here. This is strictly small-wave territory, best for a longboard or a funboard.
The water temp is about average for this time of year, so nothing weird there.
The best bet on the table is Tuesday the 14th. You’ve got a 2ft SW swell on a 14-second period, which gives you some long lines for a reef break. Wind is glassy in the morning, turning gentle offshore in the afternoon. It’ll be clean all day, and the crowd factor is “often” busy here, so expect company. That morning session looks like the pick.
Wednesday the 15th afternoon also cleans up nicely with 2ft W swell and glassy conditions, and Thursday the 16th afternoon turns glassy with a 2ft SSW swell. Solid small-wave window.
Monday the 20th morning is worth a mention too: 3ft S swell at 16 seconds, glassy, light crowds possible. That’s the biggest swell height in the run, but it’s still tiny. The period is long enough to give it some shape for a beginner-friendly reef.
After the 20th, the swell slowly fades into the 1ft to 2ft range. Winds stay mostly offshore or cross-off, so it stays rideable but very weak. The last few days, from around the 26th to the 29th, are just ordinary—small, low energy, nothing to write home about.
Overall, this is a long stretch of small but clean conditions. If you’re itching for a paddle, the standouts are Tuesday the 14th and Monday the 20th. The rest is just trimming practice.
Rusty.
