The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here with a look at what's ahead for Little Beach.

We've got a decent little window coming up right now, so don't sleep on it. The pattern starts off with a solid pulse of south-southwest groundswell that has some serious legs on it, with periods hanging around 16 seconds. The combined energy is sitting at a moderate 581 early on. That's some proper long-period stuff that will wrap in here nicely for an advanced reef set-up like this. The water temp is feeling about normal for the time of year, so nothing crazy there.

Sunday morning, July 26th, is the pick of the bunch right out of the gate. You're looking at a clean 3ft face from the SSW with a gentle 9 mph offshore breeze out of the northeast. It's going to be glassy and lined up. That long 16-second period means there will be long lulls, but the waves that come through will have proper shape and push. Come Sunday afternoon, it drops to 3ft, but the wind stays offshore and clean.

Monday the 27th is still good, with 3ft SSW swell and light cross-offshore winds that will keep the surface tidy. The energy dials back a touch, but it's still a fun, clean wave.

Tuesday the 28th sees the swell dip to 2ft and the energy drops significantly into the low 190s. It gets pretty ordinary from there for a stretch. Wednesday through Friday of that first week is small and weak, with the swell dropping to 2ft and the wind shifting around. There are a few clean moments Thursday afternoon and Friday morning thanks to that offshore wind, but the size is hard to get excited about.

From Saturday, August 1st, right through to Saturday, August 8th, we hit a real flat spell. The swell is barely 1ft to 2ft for most of that week, with combined energy falling below 100 at times. That's a long dry spell for any serious surfing. The wind stays mostly offshore or clean, but there's just no water moving to make it worth the paddle.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting again. Looking way ahead to Sunday, August 9th, we’ve got a promising return of swell. That morning is a real standout. It's showing a 3ft SSW groundswell with a 16-second interval and a glassy wind out of the north-northeast. The combined energy jumps back up to 324. It's far out, so don't lock it in just yet, but the signs are good for clean, punchy waves at that point. Monday the 10th keeps that momentum with a 3ft SSW swell and a gentle offshore breeze. If that holds, it'll be a great way to bookend this forecast period.

Bottom line: jump on this weekend into Monday. The middle of the run is dead, but keep an eye on that second Sunday for a possible revival.

Rusty.
