Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Cove over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break it down. The Cove is our only spot for this whole run, a reef break that’s inconsistent and needs the stars to align. Water temp is about average for the season, nothing wild there. First few days are small and pretty average.
Thursday morning, we got 2ft swell from the south with a 13-second period, and it’s dead glassy. Energy is weak – 120 – so you’re looking at small, clean waves. The glass holds into the afternoon with a clean offshore wind, still 2ft. Friday and Saturday are similar: 2ft to 2ft south swell, clean offshore winds, but energy remains low. Saturday the swell swings southwest with a 18-second period, making it a proper groundswell, but it’s still tiny. That long period will help the reef shape up the little bumps though.
Sunday 12 July, the swell picks up to 2ft from the southwest, 16-second period, and energy hits moderate (319). Offshore wind from the NNE all day – clean little peelers. Monday holds similar size but the period drops a touch, and the energy backs off but is still workable.
Now, Tuesday 14 July, things get interesting. Swell stays around 2ft but starts shifting west, and the energy jumps into the strong range – 479 in the morning, 454 in the afternoon. That’s a lot of energy for that wave height. Morning is glassy, afternoon stays clean with a light offshore. For the advanced crew who know this reef, this is a solid window.
Wednesday 15 July is the true standout. Swell is 2ft from the west, 15-second period, and the morning is dead calm glass. Energy is at 544 – strong for this size. The wind goes light cross-off in the afternoon, but the morning session is going to be silky smooth. The Cove rarely fires like this, so if you’re here, this is the day.
Thursday 16 July keeps the west swell at 2ft, glassy morning, clean afternoon – good but not the peak. Friday 17 July drops off, and the weekend gets marginal. Saturday 18 July has some cross-on wind in the morning, bumping the surface, but the afternoon glass-off helps. Sunday 19 July is tiny again – 2ft south swell, weak energy.
Then, Monday 20 July, a new pulse arrives. Swell hits 2ft from the south, 17-second period, with moderate energy (357). Offshore wind in the morning keeps it clean. Tuesday 21 July is the best of this later window: 3ft south swell, 15-second period, and energy over 400 (417). That’s the biggest wave height of the whole outlook, and with morning offshore breezes, The Cove should be offering up proper lines. This one is about a week and a half out, so it’s promising but not a guarantee.
After that, the swell fades through Wednesday and Thursday, and by Friday 24 July, we’re back to 2ft south swell with low energy. There’s a gap of a few days after that with nothing worth paddling for.
Best on offer: Wednesday 15 July for that perfect glass and moderate-to-strong energy, and Tuesday 21 July if you want the most size – just keep an eye on the long-range forecast.
