Table - best surf conditions forecast for Galheta over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for our local waters. The whole run starts quiet, but there is a bit of hope if you’re patient.
We’re looking at Galheta for the foreseeable future. Right away, the water is sitting at 63°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year—about 3° cooler than usual—so you’ll want a good spring suit.
The first week is pretty flat and ordinary. From Tuesday the 7th through the rest of that week and into the weekend, we’ve got small swell in the 2 ft to 3 ft range with weak wave energy (139 to 307). Winds are mostly cross or onshore, and conditions are described as poor or very ordinary. Not worth paddling out for. On Saturday the 11th, things perk up a bit: an offshore NNW wind, 3 ft swell from ESE with a long 14-second period, and combined energy jumping to 547. That’s a session for the patient surfer, with clean conditions. Sunday morning the 12th looks glassy with a 3 ft swell and 13-second period from ESE, energy at 357 – good, but not a standout.
Then Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th drop right back into tiny, weak surf with energy below 100. Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th bring back some 3 ft to 4 ft swell from SE with moderate energy (304 to 361) and clean offshore winds. Surfable, but still not big.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. On Monday the 20th of July, we see a jump: 6 ft swell from ESE with an 8-second period, but combined energy at 569, and clean cross-off winds. The size is getting into the intermediate zone, but with the short period it’s not a proper groundswell—still fun for those ready for some push.
But Tuesday the 21st is the one: 7 ft from ESE with a 9-second period, energy at 708, and moderate offshore winds from the north. That’s big enough for experienced surfers only—over 7 ft is expert territory. Conditions look clean, but the swell is predicted to be too big for this break, so pick your spot wisely if you’re skilled. That’s the standout session in the whole 16-day window.
Wednesday the 22nd stays solid with 6 ft from E and 11-second period, energy at 774, but winds are cross-off and moderate. Still good, but not as clean as Tuesday.
Overall, there’s a long stretch of small, mediocre stuff from the 7th through the 18th, with the real energy arriving in the third week. If you’re a beginner, stick to the smaller days around 2 ft to 3 ft with clean wind, like Saturday the 11th or Sunday the 12th. For the bigger stuff on the 21st and 22nd, only experts need apply.
That’s the picture. Stay stoked, and check back in a few days—it never stays flat for long.
Rusty.
