Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jacaraipe over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s have a look at what’s comin’ your way.
Right off the bat, we’ve got a bit of a wait for the good stuff. The first couple of days are a write-off – Thursday’s a mess with onshore wind and choppy lines, so don’t bother paddlin’ out till Friday. After that, there’s a sweet little window openin’ up, and honestly, the standout of the whole 16-day run is Saturday, 11th July. That morning at Jacaraipe, the ocean is flat calm – glassy, no wind, and a solid 4ft swell from the southeast with a 13-second period. That’s groundswell, mate, and the combined energy (540) is solid. It’s a beginner-friendly sandbar, so the waves will be clean and shapely. Perfect for a long session without any chop. The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothin’ unusual.
Friday morning, 10th July, is also a cracker. Offshore wind from the north-northeast at 6 mph, 3ft swell from the east-southeast, and a very long 14-second period. Combined energy (540) is meaty for the size, and the waves will be clean. That’s a great lead-in to the weekend.
Sunday morning, 12th July, is still decent – 4ft swell from the southeast, 12-second period, and a clean cross-off breeze from the north at 9 mph. The energy (370) is moderate, but it’s a solid session.
Monday morning, 13th July, is glassy again, with 3ft from the south-southeast and a 12-second period. Energy (444) is moderate, and it’ll be clean. But the swell is a bit smaller, so not as punchy as Saturday.
Now, there’s a gap from Tuesday afternoon through to Wednesday – the swell jumps up to 6ft on Wednesday, but the wind is cross-shore and the period drops to 6-10 seconds, so it’s choppy and messy. Not worth it.
Then we hit another standout: Thursday morning, 16th July. Glassy conditions, 6ft swell from the southeast with a 10-second period, and combined energy (741) – that’s strong wave energy. The wind is dead calm, so it’ll be glassy and clean. That’s a big, powerful swell for the sandbar, and it’s still manageable for intermediates. The stronger energy means more push, but the period is a bit short, so the waves might be a little lumpy. Still, it’s the best of the second week.
After that, things taper off. Friday morning, 17th July, is clean with 5ft from the southeast, but the energy (417) is moderate. Rest of the week is choppy afternoons, and the last few days from 20th July onward are small, with 4ft to 4ft from the east, but the wind is cross-off in the mornings, so you’ll get some clean waves if you paddle out early. The combined energy drops to 200-300 range, so it’s weak.
Overall, the best on offer is Saturday morning, 11th July – glassy, 4ft, clean lines. Second best is Thursday morning, 16th July – glassy, 6ft, strong energy. The rest is a mix of clean mornings and choppy afternoons, so pick your windows. The crowds at Jacaraipe are listed as “sometimes,” so you might have a few mates out, but it won’t be packed.
Rusty.
