The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here again, breaking it down in feet and degrees for you.
We’ve got a solid 16-day window for Jacaraipe, with a couple of moments that really stand out.
The whole show kicks off on Friday morning, July 17th. The water’s a pleasant 74°, which is about what you’d expect for this time of year. That morning you’re looking at a clean 5ft swell from the SE, with an 11-second period. The wind is a glassy 5 km/h from the N, so it’s dead calm. The wave energy is solid at 503. This is your best session of the early run. Expect clean, lined-up waves at the sandbar. Crowds are possible, but not a guarantee.
After that, the quality drops. The afternoons get messy with cross-onshore winds, and the swell switches to a smaller, less consistent E/ENE pattern. Waves stay around 3ft to 5ft, but the wind is mostly poor. The next decent window is Tuesday morning, July 28th, when we get another glassy session. This time it’s a 3ft SSE groundswell with a very long 14-second period. The energy is 400—strong for the size. The wind is 5 km/h from the WNW, dead calm again. That’s a sweet, clean morning for a long-period swell.
Then, looking ahead to Saturday morning, August 1st, we see a pulse of 4ft SSE swell at 12 seconds, with a strong energy reading of 556. The wind is a clean cross-off from the N at 20 km/h. This one’s promising, but it’s more than a week away, so keep an eye on it.
There’s a big lull in the middle of the run, with a lot of afternoons blown out. But the early mornings are your friend. Get out there early, and you’ll find something worth the paddle.
Rusty.
