Alright, this is Rusty. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Jacaraipe over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, Friday morning, the 3rd of July, we’ve got clean 4 ft easterly swell rolling in. The wind’s a light cross-off from the north, 9 mph, and the water’s sittin’ at a comfy 75°, which is pretty much normal for this time of year – no surprises there. It’s a decent little morning sesh for a beginner-friendly sandbar, but the energy’s only moderate (233) and the period’s short at 8 seconds, so the waves won’t have much push. Still, it’s clean, and that’s a solid start.
Saturday morning, the 4th of July, is where it gets real good. We’re lookin’ at 4 ft from the east, but the wind goes glassy – dead calm, 3 mph from the southwest. That’s about as good as it gets for clean conditions. The period bumps up to 9 seconds, energy’s still moderate (259). It’s a proper stand-out morning for Jacaraipe. Crowds can be around sometimes, but on a morning this clean, it’s worth getting out early.
The week after that gets a bit messy. Sunday through to Tuesday have cross-shore and cross-onshore winds, and while the swell hangs around 3 ft to 4 ft, the quality drops right off. The combined energy jumps around a bit, getting into the strong range on Tuesday morning (502) and Wednesday (319 to 351), but the wind’s mucking it up – it’s choppy and cross-onshore. Not worth paddlin’ out in that.
Now, into the second week, we’ve got a couple of glimmers. Friday morning, the 10th of July, sees a small 2 ft easterly swell, clean with a light north cross-off, 6 mph. It’s small but tidy. Then Saturday morning, the 11th of July, brings a bigger pulse: 4 ft from the east-southeast, 13-second period, with a clean cross-off breeze from the north at 9 mph. The energy is strong (524). That’s a promising window for some real nice lines, but it’s over a week out, so keep an eye on it.
The absolute standout of the whole forecast? Wednesday morning, the 15th of July. Glassy conditions – zero wind from the west-northwest – and a solid 5 ft south-southeast groundswell with a long 12-second period. The combined energy is strong (574). That’s gonna produce clean, powerful waves that will really peel down the sandbar. For an intermediate or anyone comfortable in 5 ft surf, this is the morning to pencil in. Just remember, long-period swell can sometimes make beach breaks a bit straight, but on a sandbar setup with glass, it should be better than most.
Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th have small clean windows, but nothing that’ll blow your mind.
Overall, the best on offer is Saturday morning the 4th for glassy perfection, and Wednesday morning the 15th for the biggest, cleanest, most powerful swell. Don’t sleep on those.
Rusty.
