Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Righto, let's have a look at what Jacaraipe's got cooking for us over the next few weeks.
Alright, so right now, Monday the 6th, it's a bit of a write-off. We've got a weak, choppy 3ft SSE swell with a cross-onshore breeze making a mess of things. Nothing doing there.
We've got a bit of a wait for the first real session. Tuesday the 7th morning is where it starts to get interesting. The wind swings around to a light northerly, giving us a clean, cross-off breeze at Jacaraipe. The swell bumps up to a nice 4ft from the SSE with an 11-second period, and the combined energy is pretty solid (567). That's a good, fun size for a sandbar, and the conditions should be clean. The water's sitting at 75°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year.
Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th are a bit of a mixed bag with cross-onshore winds and chop returning, but keep your eye on Friday the 10th morning. The forecast is showing absolute glass with zero wind and a nice 3ft ESE groundswell with a long 14-second period. The combined energy is moderate (513), and that long period will give you some proper shape and push, though at a beach break like this it might straighten out a touch. Still, glassy conditions are a major positive, so it'll be clean as a whistle.
Saturday the 11th morning also looks promising with a 5ft SSE swell (13-second period, energy 669) and a light cross-off northerly. That's a real standout for the first week – clean, strong, and a good wave for a confident beginner.
There's a bit of a lull through the middle of the week, with smaller, choppier stuff around the 12th and 13th. Nothing to write home about.
Now, here's the big call for the second week. Wednesday the 15th morning could be a ripper, but it's only for the experienced crew. The forecast is calling for a solid 7ft SE swell, but it's got a short 8-second period. The energy is massive (1188), but that short period, combined with the size, is going to be a heavy, dumpy close-out. It's flagged as too big for this break, so unless you're an expert on a big board, I'd give that a miss. The afternoon eases to 6ft ESE with an even shorter 7-second period. Not great.
Thursday the 16th morning is a bit of a sleeper. We get glassy conditions, a clean 4ft ESE swell, but again that short 7-second period mean it'll be pretty weak and bouncy.
Then, for the final standout, look at Tuesday the 21st morning. We get a solid 6ft SSE groundswell with an 11-second period, combined with a clean, cross-off northerly breeze. The energy is pumping (803). This is a great proposition for a fun session. Just be aware that by the afternoon the wind swings onshore and picks up, so make sure you're on it early.
The crowds at Jacaraipe can be around sometimes, so on these cleaner days, especially the standouts, expect some company. Overall, the first week has a couple of real gems, especially Friday the 10th morning and Saturday the 11th morning. The second week is a game of two halves: a big, lumpy swell on the 15th for experts only, and a clean, solid morning session on the 21st.
Rusty.
