The Lowdown
Right, mate, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Jacaraipe over the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, we’ve got a bit of a slow start. The first few days are a write-off for a decent paddle. Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th are looking pretty average – messy wind and the swell is just not cooperating. The real action doesn’t start to show until Thursday the 17th. That’s when things get interesting.
The standout window is gonna be Friday morning, the 17th of July. The swell is a clean 5ft coming from the SE, with a period of 11 seconds – that’s proper groundswell energy. The wind is a light offshore from the north, which is gonna keep the face of those sandbar waves super clean. The combined energy is at 511 (moderate), and it’s being described as “very good surf conditions.” This is the pick of the run. After that, the winds get a bit cross-on in the afternoon, so get in early.
The next big one to circle is Sunday morning, the 19th of July. We’ve got similar conditions – 6ft of ENE swell, a clean offshore breeze, and combined energy jumping to 530 (moderate). That’s gonna be a morning worth the early alarm.
For the rest of the first week, you’ll see a pattern of clean mornings with smaller, weaker energy (around 288 to 176) and average afternoons getting chopped up by the breeze. Nothing to write home about, but still surfable if you’re keen.
Heading into the second week, from the 22nd onwards, the swell drops right off. We’re looking at a lot of small, low-energy days with combined energy values dipping below 200. The water temp is sitting at about 75°, which is bang on average for this time of year, so no need for a thick suit.
The last potential glimmer is on the 29th of July – Wednesday morning. There’s a long-period groundswell showing up from the SSE, with a period of 13 seconds and a combined energy of 775 (moderate). The swell is 4ft and the wind is offshore. It’s a long way out, so take it with a grain of salt, but it could be a nice little pulse to close out the outlook.
Overall, don’t get too excited about the first few days. The best bet is Friday morning the 17th. Get out there and get a few.
Rusty.
