The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at the next 16 days for Laranjeiras.

Slow start, but we’ve got a solid run of quality surf kicking off later this weekend and stretching into the middle of next week. The real standout is a run of excellent, clean groundswell from the south that’s going to peak mid-week.

The first few days are a washout. Friday the 21st is a mess – small, bumpy, and choppy. Not worth paddling. Saturday morning, the 22nd, things start to turn. The wind goes glassy, and we’ve got a 6ft south swell rolling in. The energy is building with 471 (moderate wave energy) and by the afternoon it’s up to 646. It’s not huge, but it’s clean and lined up. Sunday the 23rd keeps the glassy conditions, with a 5ft south swell at 10 seconds. Still a fun, clean option for the beginner-friendly setup here.

Now, Monday the 24th is where it gets serious. The morning brings a 6ft south swell at 13 seconds, with energy jumping to 1127 (strong wave energy). Winds are cross-off and clean. By the afternoon, the swell pushes to 7ft, period stretches to 14 seconds, and the energy hits 1733 – that’s strong, powerful groundswell. This is excellent surf for experienced surfers. The south swell is coming from a direction that works well here.

Tuesday the 25th is another standout. Morning sees 7ft south swell, 14 seconds, and 1608 energy. The wind is offshore from the ENE, making it clean. The afternoon holds similar size and quality. This is top-tier for the experienced surfer.

Wednesday the 26th is the absolute peak. The morning is glassy – calm wind, no chop – and a 6ft south swell with a very long 16-second period. The energy is massive at 2419 (strong to very strong). That’s a deep ocean groundswell with serious push. It’s clean, powerful, and for experts only. That’s the best session on offer.

Thursday the 27th still has good, clean 5ft to 5ft south-southeast swell with offshore winds, but it’s easing. Friday the 28th drops off to smaller, ordinary surf, and from Saturday the 29th through the end of the month, it’s flat and poor. A big gap in quality.

There’s another pulse starting to show for the 3rd of September, with a 6ft SSE swell and clean cross-off winds, but that’s a week and a half away – promising but not certain yet.

The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing unusual. Just your standard tropical warmth.

The standout run is Monday the 24th through Wednesday the 26th. Wednesday morning, the 26th, with glassy conditions and that 16-second swell, is the pick of the bunch. It’s powerful, clean, and directed right where we want it. This is one for the experienced crew.

Rusty out.
