Table - best surf conditions forecast for Laranjeiras over the next 16 days.

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into the local surf outlook for the next couple of weeks.

Right off the bat, don’t get too excited for the first few days. The opening weekend and Monday are a write-off – the swell is tiny and messy, with cross-shore winds and even a risk of thunderstorms. It’s a flat start. We’ve got a big gap with no real surf on offer until things start to show some life.

Tuesday, July 14th is where the window cracks open. Things are looking up, especially for the afternoon. The swell comes up to 6 ft from the SSE, and with a period of 11 seconds, that’s a proper groundswell with some energy behind it (combined energy of 803). The wind swings around to a light cross-offshore, and the forecast says surf conditions could be very good. This is the standout of the whole period. The wave direction is a solid match for the optimum swell direction.

Wednesday, July 15th, keeps the good vibes going. Morning sees 6 ft from the SE with a clean cross-offshore breeze, and by the afternoon the wind goes fully offshore from the east, cleaning up the 5 ft swell nicely. Good, consistent waves for a couple of days.

Now, after that, the swell drops off a cliff. From Thursday, July 16th, right through to the end of the third week, it’s tiny. Most days we’re looking at 0.3 ft to 0.7 ft. The water temp is around 71°, which is pretty normal for this time of year. The only real flicker of life comes on Thursday, July 23rd, where the swell nudges up to 2 ft from the south with a period of 13 seconds. The combined energy is a modest 133, and while it’s surfable, conditions are very ordinary – glassy in the morning, but the size is just ankle-snappers.

The very end of the period, around July 25th and 26th, shows a slight bump to 3 ft from the south with a 12-second period, but the wind is a cross to cross-on, and the rain starts spitting on Sunday. It’s not the clean, punchy stuff we had on the 14th, but it’s at least something to paddle out for.

Bottom line: The best surf on offer is Tuesday afternoon, July 14th, at Laranjeiras. That 6 ft SSE groundswell with the light cross-offshore wind is the one to circle. After that, it’s a long flat spell with only a few very ordinary, small days to keep you company.

Rusty.
