Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, surfers, Rusty here with the outlook for Laranjeiras. We've got a bit of a mixed bag coming our way over the next couple of weeks, so let's get into it.
Right off the bat, the water is sitting at 73°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year – a nice little bonus.
We kick things off on Monday, July 6th, with a solid start. A clean 5ft south swell with a moderate 10-second period is showing up, and the wind is glassy out of the NE. The combo energy is strong at 636, meaning there's a good amount of push behind it. This is the kind of session you want to be in the water for. By the afternoon, it gets even better with a 5ft south swell and a longer 11-second period, coupled with a clean offshore E breeze. That’s prime time right there.
Tuesday the 7th is a write-off. The wind goes onshore and cross-onshore, and the swell drops off. Save your energy. Wednesday the 8th comes back to life with glassy conditions again, but the swell is smaller at 4ft from the SE. It's clean and surfable, but not the highlight.
The real standout in this first week is the combo of Monday morning and afternoon. That south swell, clean winds, and moderate wave energy are a treat for everyone. Beginner-friendly at 5ft and clean.
For the weekend, things get smaller. Thursday the 9th through Saturday the 11th has tiny, weak swell. The energy numbers drop from 299 down to just 9 by Saturday. You’ll be bobbing around. Sunday the 12th starts flat, but the afternoon brings a surprise: a 4ft SE groundswell with a 12-second period and a clean offshore wind. That energy jumps to 569 – worth a look if you’re keen for a late sesh.
Now, a heads up for Monday, July 13th – a 7ft south swell rolls in, but with a risk of thunderstorms and cross-shore winds. That’s borderline too big for beginners at 7ft, and the conditions will be messy. Tuesday the 14th sees onshore winds and dropping swell – skip it. Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th are back to clean but small and weak.
Now, for the long-range standout that’s got me talking. Friday, July 17th is looking like a proper day for the experienced crew. A 8ft south swell with a 9-second period and glassy conditions. That energy reading is massive at 1580 – that’s a lot of power. This is expert territory only, as anything over 8ft can be intimidating. The glassy wind will make it look epic, but you need to know what you're doing. Saturday the 18th is another beauty, with a 5ft south groundswell, a longer 13-second period, and glassy winds again. That’s 761 of energy, and it’s much more manageable. That Saturday morning session is going to be clean, lined up, and worth the wait. Crowds are possible here, but with that quality, you wouldn't mind sharing.
After that, the energy fades into smaller, clean conditions through the end of the period, but nothing that will blow you away.
So, to sum it up: if you're a beginner or just want a fun, clean wave, Monday July 6th is your best bet. For the experts looking for some juice, Friday July 17th is the one to circle on the calendar. Surf's coming, boys.
