Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Paralelas over the next couple of weeks.
Look, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you’re hoping for a proper surf, this stretch is going to be a real test of patience. The whole 16-day window is a bit of a fizzer. There’s nothing here that I’d genuinely call a standout, and for the vast majority of the time, the conditions just aren't shaping up. We’re looking at a long, empty run where it’s mostly poor surf, so don’t get your hopes up.
Right from the off on Saturday the 4th, it’s flat and weak. We get a tiny bit of energy on Saturday afternoon with a 2ft SSE swell but it’s ordinary at best. Sunday the 5th is glassy but there’s no power in the water at all. This poor run pretty much carries on through the entire first week and into the second. Monday the 15th sees a bit of a pulse, with the swell nudging up to 3ft from the SSE and a period of 12 seconds. That’s a long-period groundswell but the energy is still only moderate (276). It’s clean with a glassy morning, but the swell is just too small and weak to get excited about. The afternoon picks up to 4ft, but it’s a messy onshore wind, so that’s a write-off.
Then we get another pulse on Friday the 17th, with a 3ft SSE swell and a very long 15-second period. The combined energy is decent at 338, which is solid, but it’s just not enough size. It’s clean on the morning, but 3ft with that long period will be fat and slopey, probably not doing much on a point break like Paralelas. The whole second week is more of the same – small, weak, and generally unsurfable.
So, what’s the call? Honestly, there isn't one. There are no good surf options here. The water temp is sitting around 67°F, which is about average for this time of year, but there’s no swell to enjoy it in. For this area, a blank run like this, while frustrating, isn't all that unusual. We just have to wait for the next system. Keep an eye on the charts, things can change.
Rusty.
