Imperial
G’day, Rusty here. So, for Bolinas over the next couple of weeks, we’ve got a bit of a mixed bag. It’s not going to be firing every day, but there are a few windows where it all comes together. The water is sitting at 59°, which is notably warmer than usual for this time of year – a touch warmer than normal, a real treat for the skin.
We kick things off on Tuesday the 7th. It’s small, with knee-high 2ft from the SW. There’s a lot of grunt in the water for its size, with the combined energy sitting at 701. The wind is a cross-offshore, so it’s clean, but it’s a marginal session. Wednesday the 8th morning is a step up. The swell bumps to 3ft from the SW, and the energy jumps to a solid 1231, which is moderate. With a light cross-off breeze, it’s looking clean. This is genuinely good. If you’re free, that’s your best early call.
The standout action really starts on Thursday the 9th. The morning has 5-6ft of WNW swell, with the period dropping to 9 seconds. That’s short period, windswell, so it will be a bit bumpy and won’t have the same push as a groundswell. But the wind is light and cross-off, and the energy is strong at 879. They’re calling it very good, and I’d agree. It’s proper overhead and clean. Friday the 10th holds similar size at 6-7ft from the WNW. On Friday morning, the wind goes light cross-shore, which is still surfable, and the energy is 827. Another solid option.
For the weekend and into the following week, the swell hangs around the 4ft to 5ft range. It’s consistent enough, with mostly clean conditions thanks to cross-offshore winds, though the afternoon sea breezes do pick up. The energy stays moderate, generally between 300 and 700. It’s not going to be epic, but there will be waves to be had, especially in the mornings.
Looking further out, around Saturday the 18th, the wind shifts to a light cross-onshore. It stays small, around 5ft, but the quality drops off. This looks less appealing. By Sunday the 19th, the swell drops right away, back to 2ft, and the period jumps to a long 16 seconds. That’s a proper groundswell, but it’s too tiny to do much with at a beach setup. The following days are small and choppy. Not much to recommend there. So, you’ve got a good run from the 8th through to the 17th, with a real peak on the 9th and 10th. Get in the water then. This is Rusty, signing off.
