Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Right now, on Sunday July 5th, it’s pretty flat here at Fort Point – just 2ft of weak SW swell with a long 18-second period, but only marginal conditions. Water temps are running way warmer than normal, sitting at 62.2°F, a solid 7° above average for this time of year. That’s nice, but you won’t be surfing today. Monday morning the 6th brings a tiny bump – 2.6ft from the SW, still long period (16s), and clean with a light cross-off breeze. It’s surfable but nothing special. Tuesday the 7th stays small and ordinary, with a messy afternoon.
Then things start to get interesting. Wednesday morning July 8th is the real standout: a solid 7.2ft of NW swell, short period at 8 seconds, but the combined energy is chunky at 1464 – that’s proper power. The wind is light cross-off from the SW, keeping it clean. This is Fort Point at its best, and the direction is bang on from the NW. For advanced surfers only, this is a morning session to circle. Thursday morning July 9th is almost as good – 6.6ft from the WNW, period 9 seconds, combined energy 1324, with a lighter WSW breeze. Clean again, and the swell direction matches the spot’s optimum. Two mornings in a row of quality. Afternoons both days get choppy with stronger cross-off winds, so stick to early.
Friday July 10th drops a notch to 5.6–5.9ft, still clean in the mornings, but the energy is moderate (754–880). Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th are disappointing – small, short period, and poor conditions. Monday July 13th offers a glassy morning with 4.6ft from the WNW, but the period is a weak 7 seconds and the combined energy only 232 – flat, slopey waves. Tuesday July 14th morning shows promise again: 5.9ft WNW, period 8s, combined energy 588, light WSW wind, clean. That’s another good call if you can get out early. Wednesday the 15th, Thursday the 16th, and Friday the 17th all have similar morning windows – 5.6–5.9ft from the WNW, light wind, clean, moderate energy. The afternoons get chopped up by stronger cross-shore winds. So the pattern is clear: mornings are your friend, especially Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th – those are the true standouts. The second week (July 14–19) is more
