Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fort Point over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Fort Point has in store for us over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, we've got a bit of a slow start. Saturday the 11th isn't really firing. The morning shows some potential with clean 5ft swell from the NW, but it's not coming together for a good session. The water is sitting at 64°F which is way warmer than usual for this time of year – a solid 8°F anomaly – so that's a nice surprise if you're keen for a paddle without a thick wetsuit.
The real action kicks off on Wednesday, July 15th. That morning is the standout of the whole window. We've got a solid 6ft of NW swell wrapping in, with a light cross-offshore breeze keeping things clean. The energy is pumping hard at 879 (moderate wave energy), and it's all pointing to some proper waves. This is advanced territory at over 5ft, so leave the foamies at home. It's going to be a good one for the crew who know what they're doing.
Thursday the 16th morning is also a decent shout with 6ft from the WNW and a gentle cross-offshore breeze, but it's not quite as clean as Wednesday. The energy is still strong at 682.
After that, the swell drops right off into the weekend of the 18th and 19th. We're looking at tiny 2ft waves, but the silver lining is the period jumps right up – 17 to 18 seconds. That's proper long-period groundswell, but at this size, it's going to be pretty weak. The energy readings are still in the moderate range (452 to 562), which is unusual for such small waves, but it's a long period, so the sets will be few and far between.
The second week gets a bit more interesting again around the 24th and 25th. Friday the 24th morning has a tiny 2ft swell from the SW with a massive 24-second period and energy of 600. That's a weird one – very long period but very small. The 25th morning is similar with 2ft and 21-second period. These are more for the longboard or the foil, not a proper shortboard session.
Overall, the pick of the fortnight is hands-down Wednesday morning, July 15th. That's your window for some proper, punchy waves. The rest of the run is a mix of small clean days and a few bigger, wind-affected afternoons.
Keep it salty.
Rusty.
