The Lowdown
Alright folks, it’s Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the next couple of weeks. Gotta be straight with you: the first few days are a bit of a write-off for any decent paddle. The waiting game starts now.
The first real glimmer of hope comes on Thursday, 27th August. The morning session is where it’s at. We’re looking at a clean 6 ft swell from the WNW, and the light cross-off breeze from the WSW will keep it tidy. The energy is thumping at (613) which is a solid step up. This is the one to circle on the calendar for the first week. It’s an advanced spot, and it’s inconsistent, so you’ll need a bit of patience, but the quality is there for the crew that knows the lineup.
The next real standout, and the best of the whole run, falls on Saturday, 29th August. The morning is looking absolutely mint. Clean 3 ft swell from the SW, with a long 18-second period, and a gentle breeze. The combined energy is massive at (1095). That’s a lot of juice for a small wave, meaning proper shape and power. Fort Point is sheltered, so it needs that perfect combo, and this is it. For an inconsistent spot, this is a rare gem.
We do have a heavy option further out. On Wednesday, 2nd September, things ramp up into expert territory. The morning sees an 8 ft WNW swell with a 9-second period and clean conditions. The energy is a beast at (1792). That’s big, powerful, and only for the best. Then Thursday, 3rd September, is the biggest of the lot: a 10 ft NW swell, 10-second period, and clean light breeze. The energy reading is extreme (3004). That’s a serious, serious groundswell. For the experienced only, and given the long period, it’s going to be a freight train at a beach-and-reef setup. This is a long-range call, so keep an eye on the charts, but it has the potential to be the session of the season.
The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing weird going on. Just a solid run of late summer vibes.
Stay patient, keep waxed up, and I’ll see you out there.
Rusty.
