Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming down the line for Fort Point.
Right now, the surf is really small. We’re talking tiny little 2ft swell coming from the SW with a very long 18-second period. The energy reading is only moderate, coming in at 402. The water temp is sitting about average for this time of year. The wind is a gentle cross-off, so it’s clean, but there’s just not enough wave to make it worthwhile. The outlook doesn’t really get going for a few days.
Things start to pick up on Wednesday morning, the 8th of July. That’s the first real standout. The swell bumps up to 3ft from the SW, holding that long 18-second period, and the energy jumps up to a strong 1276. A light, cross-off breeze keeps it all clean. This is going to be a super fun session for the advanced crew – those long period lines will set up nicely.
Then we get a shift. On Thursday morning, the 9th of July, the swell jumps to 8ft from the NW, but the period drops right back to a short 8 seconds and the wind is still a clean cross-off. The energy reading is massive, at 1713. This one comes with a big caveat though – with that short period and size over 7ft, this is for experts only. The beach-and-reef setup might have some challenging, crumbly sections for anyone not on their game.
After that, through the second week, we see a mix of WNW swells, mostly hanging between 4ft and 7ft, with shorter periods of 6 to 9 seconds. The wind stays cross-off, but the quality drops off. It’s surfable, but nothing to write home about. Don’t hold your breath for a perfect day.
The best bet for a clean, long-period session is that Wednesday morning, the 8th of July. The best call for a bigger, more powerful wave – and for experts only – is the Thursday morning, the 9th of July.
Stay safe out there.
Rusty.
