Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fort Point over the next 16 days.

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Fort Point.

Overall, we're looking at a solid run of surf kicking off this Wednesday morning, July 8th, and it's got a bit of everything. The water is sitting at 63°F which is a solid 8°F warmer than usual for this time of year – that's a real treat, you'll be in boardies and a spring suit for sure.

The real standout is Wednesday morning, July 8th. We've got a long-period groundswell rolling in from the SW at 3ft, but with a period of 18 seconds, that's a proper long-range pulse. The wave energy is strong, clocking in at 1180, and with a light cross-offshore breeze from the WSW, the surface is going to be glassy clean. This is a sheltered spot, so it can be a bit finicky, but when it lines up like this, it's very good. The water is also much warmer than normal, so you’re in for a treat. Keep in mind, this break is for advanced surfers only, and with the long period, it'll be a bit walled up, but for those who know the lineup, it's the pick of the week.

The swell builds through the week, but the wind gets a little feistier. Thursday morning, July 9th, sees the swell bump up to 6ft from the WNW, but it's a shorter-period 9 seconds. The energy is still moderate (900), and the wind stays light and cross-off, so it'll be clean. It's a good session, but not quite the magic of Wednesday.

By Friday, July 10th, the swell is holding around 6ft, still from the WNW, but the period drops to 9 seconds. The energy is moderate (1023 on Friday morning). The wind stays light and cross-off in the mornings, so the mornings are the go. The afternoons get a bit of a breeze, making things a little lumpy.

Saturday morning, July 11th, is another good call. The swell is up to 7ft from the NW, with a short period of 8 seconds. The energy is strong (1021) and a light cross-offshore wind keeps it clean. It's a bit of a lumpy, thumpy wave, but it’ll be punchy. Anything over 8ft is for experts only, and we're close to that.

As we head into the second week, from July 13th onward, the swell drops back. Monday morning, July 13th, is surfable at 5ft, but it's ordinary. The real interest picks up again on July 18th. The morning of Saturday, July 18th, sees a smaller, but very long-period swell from the west at 2ft with a 17-second period. The energy is moderate (692), and the wind is light. This is a classic long-period groundswell for a point break or reef, but at a beach setup it can be a bit straight. It’s a promising session, but don't expect wedges.

The following week, from July 19th to 23rd, we see a consistent run of smaller, long-period SW swells. The mornings look best, with light winds and clean conditions. The waves are around 2ft to 3ft, with periods of 14 to 17 seconds. The energy is moderate (around 400-700). It’s a fun, consistent run of knee-to-waist high lines, perfect for a longboard or a bigger fish. Just keep an eye on the wind in the afternoons, as it can get a bit messy.

So, to sum it up: Wednesday morning, July 8th, is the standout. After that, the mornings are your friend for the first week, and the second week offers a long, gentle run of small, clean groundswell.

Rusty.
