Table - best surf conditions forecast for Topaz Street over the next 16 days.
Alright, crew, Rusty here. We’re looking at a pretty quiet run on the whole, but there’s a couple of windows worth paddling out for if you’re patient. The water is running much warmer than normal for this time of year at 68°, that’s over two degrees above average, so you can leave the thick rubber at home.
The long-period swell (18 seconds) on Tuesday the 7th gives a nice bit of grunt with moderate energy (450), but it’s coming in with a 12 mph onshore wind, so the surface is messy and it’s rated as poor surf. That one’s a pass.
Wednesday the 8th stays small, 2 ft, with a cross-on wind, marginal at best. Not worth your time.
Now, Thursday the 9th is small and cross-shore, still marginal.
Friday the 10th is where we get our first real standout. Morning at Topaz Street looks clean with a light cross-offshore breeze from the SSE, 9 mph, and a 2 ft SSW swell. That 15-second period gives it some shape and energy (237). Light winds and clean conditions make this the best on offer in the first week. The swell direction is from the SSW, which is a good match for the optimum W direction, so it’ll wrap in nicely.
Saturday the 11th morning is very similar – clean again, cross-offshore, 2 ft SSW swell, 15-second period, light breeze. Another solid option.
Sunday the 12th slides back to cross-shore wind and marginal conditions.
There’s a real dry spell from Monday the 13th all the way through to Saturday the 18th morning. The swell drops to 1 ft to 2 ft, winds are mostly onshore or cross-on, and the energy is weak (lowest at 111). It’s a long, boring stretch with no surf to get excited about.
Then, on the afternoon of Saturday the 18th, we get a bit of a surprise. The wind swings SE off-shore, light breeze, and the swell picks up to 2 ft from the SW with an 18-second period, energy jumping to 410. It’s clean and has some long-period push, but it’s small. Still, for a late-afternoon session, it’s the best we’ve seen in over a week.
Sunday the 19th morning sees a bigger bump – 3 ft from the S, 14-second period, cross-offshore wind from the SSE at 9 mph, and wave energy is strong (576). That’s the biggest swell of the whole forecast. The wind is clean, but the swell period is a bit shorter. It’s a good option for the second week, but remember, it’s a long-range call so less certain. The south swell direction is a solid match for the break’s optimum west swell, so it should wrap in alright.
After that, Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st go back to poor conditions with onshore winds and messy surf.
The last flicker is Wednesday the 22nd morning – a small 1 ft from the SSW with a clean cross-offshore breeze, but it’s weak (148) and very ordinary. Not a standout.
To sum it up: the best bet is Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th mornings – clean, light winds, and a consistent 2 ft groundswell. If you’re looking further out, Sunday the 19th morning has the most size (3 ft) and clean wind, but it’s a week and a half away, so keep an eye on it. The rest is mostly flat or junk.
Rusty.
