Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s talk about Campus Point. It’s a mixed run over the next couple of weeks, with some real nice clean days and plenty of small, ordinary ones too.
Water temp is about 64°F — that’s a touch warmer than average, so you might not need the thickest rubber.
Friday the 3rd of July kicks off with a tiny 0.5ft SW swell, 16-second period. That’s real groundswell, and with a light cross-off breeze it’s clean enough for a longboard. Combined energy is moderate at 204. It’s surfable but nothing to get excited about.
Saturday the 4th of July is glassy in the morning with 0.5ft SSW swell at 14 seconds. Clean as a mirror. That’s a nice little session for a quiet paddle. The afternoon stays clean but small.
Sunday the 5th is a dud. Cross-shore winds and tiny surf. Skip it.
Monday the 6th of July is the first proper standout. Morning has 0.6ft SSW swell, 16-second period, light cross-off breeze, and combined energy at 352 (moderate). That’s clean and fun for a small point wave. The afternoon is similar.
Tuesday the 7th is the pick of the whole outlook. Morning has 0.7ft SW swell at 18 seconds, light cross-off, energy at 465. Afternoon bumps to 0.8ft SSW, still 18 seconds, 453 energy. This is classic Campus Point—clean, long-period, peeling waves. This is the one to circle on the calendar.
Wednesday the 8th brings a bigger 1ft WNW swell in the afternoon, but the period drops to 9 seconds—short period windswell. Energy is still strong at 554, but it’ll be bumpy with cross-off wind. Might have some punch, but not as clean.
Thursday the 9th keeps that WNW windswell around 1.0-1ft, 9-10 seconds. Morning is cross-shore, but the afternoon cleans up. Surfable.
Then we hit a rough stretch from Friday 10th through Tuesday 14th. Onshore winds, cross-on, and cross-shore dominate. Swell stays tiny (0.3-0.6ft). Energy drops to weak to low moderate. Not worth paddling out.
Things start to improve Sunday 12th afternoon with a light offshore from the NNW, 0.5ft SSW 14-second swell. Small but clean.
Wednesday 15th afternoon has 0.3ft WNW swell with a massive 20-second period. Energy is only 215 (low moderate), but that kind of period on a point will set up smooth, lined-up walls. A sneaky good log session.
Thursday 16th afternoon brings 1ft WNW swell, but only 7 seconds—short and choppy. Energy is 383 (moderate). Clean, but not as nice.
Friday 17th and Saturday 18th have afternoon clean windows, swell 0.5-0.6ft from WNW and SW, periods from 17-19 seconds. Energy climbs into the 420-560 range. Good, clean, long-period point waves.
The standout is Tuesday the 7th of July. Those 0.7-0.8ft SSW groundswells with 18-second period and light cross-off winds are the best of the run. Small but perfect for a longboard on the point.
That’s the word. Keep the log waxed and stay patient. Rusty.
