Table - best surf conditions forecast for Campus Point over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for Campus Point.
This 16-day window kicks off with a real quiet start on Sunday, July 12th. We've got some tiny 2ft SSW swells rolling in, but the energy is weak (215). The saving grace is a glassy morning, making for clean, if gutless, waves. It's surfable but nothing to write home about.
Monday and Tuesday are pretty flat, with the swell dropping even smaller and winds turning cross-shore. Not worth paddling out for unless you're desperate for a tan. There's a noticeable gap here with no solid recommendations until we get a little bump of energy mid-week.
Wednesday the 15th picks up a bit with a 3.3ft WNW swell, but the period is a short, crumbly 7 seconds (energy 334). It'll be weak and messy. Thursday the 16th afternoon finally shows a glimmer of hope. The swell holds around 3.6ft from the WNW with a better 9-second period, and the wind goes light and cross-offshore. We see a "clean" wave state and expect "good surf conditions." This is the first decent window in the run.
The standout in this whole outlook, the one you want to circle on your calendar, arrives on Friday, July 24th. That morning we see a 2ft SSW swell, but the period jumps to a very long 24 seconds. The combined energy is a solid 500, indicating moderate wave energy. With light cross-offshore winds, it'll be glassy and clean. That long period will shape up nice points, and the energy will be there.
The very end of the run looks promising too. The morning of Sunday, July 26th is all-time clean with glassy conditions and a 2.6ft SSW swell at a 20-second period (energy 525). Then Monday the 27th morning tops it off as the best day of the whole forecast: 3ft SSW swell, 18-second period, energy pumping at 698, and clean light offshore winds. That is a proper groundswell. It will be an experts-only session with the power in the water, but for those who can handle it, it will be firing.
Campus Point is a point break here, so those long-period groundswells from the SSW will wrap in nicely. Crowds are something to be aware of here, as it's often packed. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing unusual.
So, the pick of the litter is that Monday morning, July 27th. Set your alarm.
