Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let's get into it. What we've got here at Campus Point is a stretch of small but fun-sized groundswell kicking off Monday, July 6th. The water temp is sitting about average for this time of year, nothing weird going on there. It's a point break, so those long period swells we're seeing will wrap in nicely.
The week starts Monday morning, July 6th, with a clean 2ft swell from the SSW, and a long 16-second period pushing through. The light cross-offshore wind from the WSW has the surface looking tidy. Combined wave energy is reading 352, which is modest but it'll be lining up nicely on the point. That morning window on Monday is the standout for the first few days – it's clean, it's rideable, and it's the best bet for a fun session on a log or a fish.
The surf stays very similar through Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th, with that long-period SSW groundswell hanging in there around 2ft to 3ft. Tuesday morning has a slight bump in energy (548) and an 18-second period, making for some beautifully shaped, grindy waves on the point. Winds stay light and cross-offshore, so conditions remain clean. Wednesday afternoon sees a shift as a new, short-period 5ft swell from the WNW rolls in with only 8 seconds between waves. That's mixy, lumpy energy and the wave quality drops off.
Thursday the 9th still has some size from that WNW swell, around 4ft to 5ft in the morning, but the period is still short at 9 seconds. The wind stays light, but the waves will be a bit softer and less organized than the earlier SSW groundswell. By Friday the 10th, the swell drops back to 3ft and under and the energy fades through the afternoon.
Then we hit a flat, quiet spell. From Saturday the 11th all the way through to the morning of Friday the 17th, it’s mostly tiny surf with poor conditions. There are a few 1ft to 2ft bumps, but the winds turn onshore or cross-onshore a lot, and the energy stays low. It's about a week of barely surfable waves if you're desperate for a paddle.
Finally, things look a little more promising again on Friday afternoon, July 17th, and into Saturday morning, July 18th. Friday afternoon shows a long-period 2ft WNW groundswell with 18-second intervals, and light cross-offshore winds. The combined energy pushes up to 279. That's a glassy, clean afternoon with tiny but perfect peelers. Then Saturday morning, July 18th, picks up a touch more size – 3ft from the WNW with a 9-second period – and the energy jumps to 448. Winds are light and cross-offshore again. That Saturday morning session is the other real standout in this whole outlook. It won't be big, but it'll be clean, fun, and uncrowded for a point break that can get busy.
After that, it fades back to small and ordinary through to the end of the forecast on Tuesday, July 21st.
So, if you're picking your windows, Monday morning July 6th and Saturday morning July 18th are your best shots at a proper, clean point break slide.
