The Lowdown
Alright, mates, let's talk Pescaderos. This is a beginner-friendly spot, pretty consistent, and the water's sitting at about 66°, which is a couple of degrees warmer than usual for this time of year – feels like a hot tub. The forecast over the next 16 days is a mixed bag, with a lot of marginal or poor conditions, but there are a couple of windows where it’ll be worth the paddle.
The first few days are quiet. Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th are offering tiny, weak swell with cross-shore winds – not really worth getting wet. Sunday the 19th stays marginal, nothing to write home about.
Then we get a little glimmer on Monday morning, the 20th of July. The wind goes glassy, flat calm, and the swell fills in at 3ft from the south, with a period around 13 seconds and moderate energy (443). It’s small, but clean as a whistle – perfect for a beginner cruise or a longboard session. That’s the best of the first week.
The middle of the week falls apart again. Tuesday and Wednesday are poor, and Thursday morning stays iffy. But Thursday afternoon, the 23rd, picks up with a clean cross-offshore breeze, swell 2ft from the SSE, period 13 seconds, energy 422. It’s not big, but it’s tidy and fun.
The rest of the month carries a lot of marginal, questionable conditions. The standout, though, comes on Thursday the 30th of July in the afternoon. Another glassy session, with the swell bumping up to 3.6ft from the WNW, period 9 seconds, and energy up at 530. That’s a proper little wave for this spot, and with the glassy surface it’s going to be a joy. That’s your second top pick.
After that, into the first of August, the swell drops back to tiny, inconsistent slop. Nothing to get
