Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cooking at Pescaderos for this extended outlook. Gotta be honest with you, it's a tale of two halves, and a lot of waiting.
Right off the bat, we’ve got some tiny waves on the table for Monday afternoon, the 6th of July. Don't get too excited – we're looking at ankle-snappers of 2ft from the SSW. The combined energy is weak (353), but the water is a touch warmer than average for this time of year.
The first real blip of something interesting doesn’t show up until Wednesday afternoon, the 8th of July. We get a jump in size to 6ft from the WNW, and the energy picks up to a moderate level (581). The wind is a clean cross-offshore from the west. The only catch? That swell period is a short 7 seconds, so it's going to be a bit wobbly and not have much punch. It’s a session for the more forgiving shortboard or a funboard.
The rest of that first week and into the second is a real struggle. There’s a gap of a few days where the surf really drops away. Thursday the 9th through to Monday the 13th of July is mostly sub-3ft junk with either cross or light cross-onshore winds. The conditions are ordinary at best.
The latter half of the outlook has a couple of standout windows, though they come with caveats. The first real highlight is on Sunday morning, the 19th of July. We’ve got a small 3ft swell from the SSE hitting, but the energy is solid (453). The wind is almost nothing – a slight air from the south making it a light cross-onshore. It’s small but might offer a clean little wave if you’re on the right board.
But the absolute best bet on the whole forecast is Monday morning, the 20th of July. It’s not about size, with only 2ft from the SW, but everything else is magic. The wind goes glassy, dead calm. Absolute perfection. The swell is a long-period 16 seconds from the SW, which lines up nicely with the break's optimum direction. This is a dawn-patrol session for the log or a longboard. It’ll be clean as a whistle, even if the waves are tiny. The energy is light (275) but with that period, there will be little bumps of pure glass. This is the one to circle on the calendar.
So, for a surfer looking for a proper session, Wednesday the 8th is your first chance at something with a bit of push, and Monday morning the 20th is the standout for pure, clean conditions on the tiny stuff. For the rest of the time, it’s a lot of waiting for the ocean to sort itself out.
Stay patient,
Rusty
