Table - best surf conditions forecast for Palos Verde - Bluff Cove over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for our local stretch.
Alright, I'm not gonna lie to ya, the next week and a half is gonna test your patience. We've got a long, slow grind of small, average waves. The water is a balmy 69°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least you won't be cold while you're waiting. The real standout, the one you want to circle on your calendar, is the morning of Saturday, July 18th. That's the best bet of the whole run.
So, the pattern from now is pretty flat for a while. Starting Friday morning, July 10th, we've got tiny 2ft SSW groundswell with a long 15-second period. The wind is cross-off, so it cleans it up, but the combined energy is weak (238). It's surfable but very ordinary. This continues through the weekend and into Monday morning, July 13th. Monday morning is the pick of the early period, with glassy conditions from a slight air, but it's only 2ft. The rest of the week is a mess of onshore and cross-shore winds, making it pretty ugly out there, with heights dropping to 1.0ft on Tuesday morning.
We get a cleaner run of mornings from Wednesday, July 16th, through Friday, July 17th, with light offshore or cross-off winds and consistent 1ft SW swell. It’s small, but the light winds and long periods (16–19 seconds) will make it clean. The energy is still low, though.
Now, for the one that's got my attention. Saturday morning, July 18th. The swell bumps up a notch to 2ft from the SW with an 18-second period. That's a very long period groundswell for this spot, so it'll have some real push to it. The combined energy jumps to a moderate 287. But the best part? Light wind out of the S giving us cross-off conditions, keeping it clean. That's a solid little window. The afternoon gets ruined by the onshore, so get on it early.
Sunday morning, July 19th, is also clean with similar size, and the early mornings of Monday, July 21st and Tuesday, July 22nd also look promising with light winds and 2–2ft swell, but nothing quite beats that Saturday.
The last few days of the run, starting Wednesday, July 23rd, fade away again with small, weak swells and mostly poor winds.
For the whole period, the best spot is going to be Palos Verde - Bluff Cove. It's a beginner-friendly reef that's fairly consistent. Since it's a reef and we've got some long-period swells, it should handle that energy better than a beach break. The crowds are only a "sometimes" thing, which is a bonus for a spot like this.
Stay patient.
Rusty.
